Laura Estella Fields

LAURA ESTELLA FIELDS was born on October 24, 1948 in Howard County, Maryland to the late Russell and Jessie Allen. She was one of 6 siblings, Doris, Jessie, Martha, Lillian and Shirley. She passed away peacefully and quietly in her home surrounded by family on January 16, 2024. Laura received her education in the Howard County Public School System and was a student at Harriet Tubman Senior High School. She was later employed by the Howard County Public School System where she was a committed employee for 29 years. Laura was a widow and was formerly married to the love of her life, the late Gilbert Fields. They shared a happy and fruitful marriage for over 40 years. Out of this union, they were blessed to have 6 beautiful children, Kevin, Calvin, Marcell, Leslie, Brian and Dwayne. Laura was introduced to Jehovah as a child through her Aunt Laura Bright and her love for Jehovah continued into her adulthood and she symbolized her love and dedication to Jehovah by baptism on July 30, 2011. Her love for Jehovah motivated her to share her faith with family and others which has brought comfort and hope to many. Laura was a spirited individual and loved spending time dancing, shopping, listening to music and most importantly being there as a source of support, encouragement and companionship for her family and others. She often lived the scripture that states there is more happiness in giving than in receiving and gave of her time and resources to comfort others and would verbalize to her children, “If that person is in need and I have it to give, than I’m going to give it.” This has taught us to give willingly and unselfishly knowing that Jehovah sees our acts of generosity and kindness. Laura leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Kevin, Calvin, Marcell (Torri), Leslie (Maurice), Brian and Dwayne; her sisters, Jessie, Martha, Lillian and Shirley (Gregg); sisters-in-law, Agnes, Brenda (Nookie), Florence, Carolyn (Curly), preceded in death Helen (Nellie), Mary Ellen (Sissy); brothers-in-law, John (Tommy) and Melvin (Smack), preceded in death William, Robert, Albert; grandchildren, Carlos, Tierra, Aaron, Russell, Thomas, Antjuan, Keyshawn, Kevin Jr., Shmira, Michael, Monroe (She was preceded in death by her granddaughters Ashley and Tabria); great-grand children, Kayla, Tamia, Montrell, Jewel, Harmony, Jontae, Adonis, Ayden, Josiah, Katalina and Elijah, Navene, Zaire, Kaylee, Hudson; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.
