LaShaun Marie Evans

LaShaun Marie Evans,affectionately known as"Teedy,"eased peacefully from this life into eternity on Sunday,August 16, 2009 after a brief illness. She was born April 4, 1955 in Washington,DC to the late Raymond Evans and Gwendolyn Evans.LaShaun was a 1973 graduate of Northwestern Senior High School in Adelphi,Maryland. She later graduated from Lincoln University with a Master in Human Services degree in 1997.LaShaun was a born leader and a woman of strength. She loved to travel and share her independent spirit with others.The founder of In The Voice Of A Woman,her goal was to bring about a better quality of life for others-especially those who were disenfranchised,marginalized,or had no voice to speak. She believed that educating,encouraging,and supporting one woman at a time made a difference. She learned from her life experiences that she was no different from you and you were no different from her. LaShaun's many experiences afforded her an opportunity to challenge and overcome many personal and professional fears. Through life's many turns and ups and downs,she was given the opportunity to challenge reservations which could have hindered her life,but instead helped her to gain invaluable knowledge and foresight that she shared with others.She was member of St. Paul's Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Lance Watson and served in the Aids Ministry.LaShaun believed in giving back to her community and lived out that belief through her actions. She was a dedicated change agent who delighted in cheer leading others to becoming the best they could be. As a woman of faith,LaShaun believed in relying on God's true destination for our life no matter how many wrong turns were taken in the past.LaShaun was a much sought after speaker at churches,national conferences,and community events. Wherever she was invited to speak,she communicated a message of hope,health,wellness,and commissioned people to get involved in the fight for social change and against health disparities.LaShaun was very devoted to her daughter,grandson,brothers and friends. She was a kind-hearted,giving person who had an infectious smile and a joyous spirit. All visitors were welcomed into her home.LaShaun leaves to cherish her joyous memories,her loving daughter,Shayla Briscoe;grandson.Aaron Bradford;brothers,Roderick and Dushaun Evans;stepbrothers and stepsisters;a host of other family and wonderful friends.She leaves innumerable memories,which will always be in the hearts of her family and friends.
