Lamont Rummel Shaw

Lamont passed away suddenly in his home in Washington,D.C.,Thursday, February 18, 2016. Beloved son of Robert and Sallie Shaw was born in Richmond, VA June 23, 1956. Lamont attended grade school in Richmond Public Schools. He completed his education in Newark, New Jersey. After which, he joined the U.S. Marine Corp and completed his basic training in Parris lsland, South Carolina. At an early age, Lamont and his three brothers were baptized together by Rev. E. C. Kent at Mount Olivet Baptist Church, Richmond, Virginia. He always enjoyed singing and reading the Bible, .and he never stayed away from church. In Washington, DC he attended Bible Study and went to service at Peabody Street Mennonite Church, Rev. George Richards, Pastor. Lamont was preceded in death by his father, Robert Shaw, Sr. and his four brothers: Wilson, (Tony) Anton, Fernando and (Bobby) Robert Shaw, Jr. Mrs. Della Shaw, Lamont's grandmother, started calling him "The boy with the tinkering hands" when he was two years old. He loved building things, tearing them down and designing his own art projects ...During his journey of following his passion he attended several training classes and received Certificates of Completion in Motor, Refrigeration and Electrical wiring. In 2013, he graduated from University of the District of Columbia in Washington, DC receiving his degree and license as a certified electrician. At the time of his death, he was working in Rockville, MD wiring buildings in a newly constructed complex. In the words of Mrs. Mary Minor, Lamont's landlady "Lamont was so happy and so content. I loved having him around the house." His roommate Andre Moore stated, "There was never a dull moment with Lamont around the house. He was my Buddy. We had so much fun..." Lamont leaves to cherish his memory a loving mother, Sallie Shaw, a devoted son, Rummel Lamont Carr, a dedicated sister, Stephenaye Shaw, (his good friend) Ex-Wife Maggie Carr; Delighted Sisters-In-Law: Joan, Jeanie and Faye Shaw of Richmond, VA; One faithful Brother-In-Law, Michael Talbert, Sr. of Richmond, VA; four caring aunts: Martha Jackson of Richmond, VA, Barbara Smith (Wallace) of Roselle, NJ, Bettie Johnson of Rock Hill, SC, Margie Sutton of Diamond Bar, CA; three inspiring Uncles: Jessie and Joe McMoore and Rev. John Simpson of Rock Hill, SC. He also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews.
