Lacy W. Sinclair

LACY WILBUR SINCLAIR, the son of the late James Walter Sinclair and the late Beatrice McEachern, was born on May 23, 1933, in Lumber Bridge, North Carolina. He departed from this life on October 6, 2013. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Gerdine Sinclair; first wife, Bessie Hamlin; two sisters, Gloria Roberson and Ulene Makell; three brothers, Carl Sinclair, Eddie Sinclair and Maxell Sinclair; two brothers - in - law, Ronald Johnson and Romus Makell. Lacy received his education in the North Carolina school system. After completing his education, Lacy became the proud father of his first born child, Charles Rouse of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina. Around the year 1950, he moved to Baltimore where he met Bessie “Sugar Pie” Hamlin while working at Holtite Rubber Company. They were married and from this union three daughters were born: Yvette, Tonya and Cheryl. Lacy honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army from 1955 to 1957. In 1976, Lacy met Carolyn Bennett. Their commitment to each other grew, and in March 1982 they were married. Lacy enjoyed watching all sports with a particular love for baseball. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with family and friends. A long standing pastime was playing the lottery often to select those winning numbers. As an employee of Bethlehem Steel Company for twenty-three years (1967-1990), he worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was anexcellent father to his children as well as a supportive husband. Lacy leaves to mourn: his devoted wife, Carolyn Sinclair; son, Charles Rouse of Lumber Bridge, North Carolina; three daughters, Yvette Marshall, Tonya Dennis and Cheryl Wright; three sisters, Helen Johnson, Patricia Thornton and Charlene Sinclair; two sons-in-law, Randy Dennis and Jack Wright; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Gary Thornton, Frances Sinclair, Yvonne Dunlap, Loretta Dunlap, Brenda Dunlap, Janet Dunlap Toliver, Melvin Dunlap, Ronald Dunlap, Tyrone Dunlap, James Edwards;two stepdaughters, Tara Lane and Nashae Bennett. He is also survived by one grandson, four granddaughters, one great-grandson and one greatgranddaughter, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
