Kristen Kimberly Pinkney

Kristen Kimberly Pinkney, daughter of Kim S. Pinkney and Norvell W. Pinkney, was born on July 5, 1981 at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD. She was baptized at St. Bernadine's Catholic Church and christened in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Her father Wesley, is attributed to giving Kristen her lifelong nickname, "Fee-Fee". Kristen grew up in Baltimore County and West Baltimore. She was raised with love and attention from both sides of her family and made lifelong friends everywhere she went. As a young girl, Kristen showed empathy and tenderness to both people and animals, adopting a few strays along the way. This was the beginning of her love and desire to help others in any way she could. Kristen attended Hilton Elementary School, Old Court Middle School and then went on to graduate high school from Harbor Heights in Baltimore, MD. Later, she obtained a Certificate for Medical Assistant from TESST College of Technology, which gave her the credentials to enter the profession she was well suited for--caretaker. Kristen was currently enrolled in Radians College in Washington, DC as an Associate Degree candidate in nursing. It was apparent from a very young age that Kristen was never afraid of hard work. She worked in several areas including Federal Express, the Maryland Transportation Administration and Prometrics. Over the past year she had been providing private nursing care for her grandmother, who is under hospice. Her undeniable devotion and love for her grandmother could fill a room and she will be greatly missed. Kristen was a beautiful girl who was always smiling. She always encouraged others to do their best and would be the first to uplift your spirits if you were down. She loved to laugh, and was a loyal friend to those closest to her. Like many, Kristen faced personal struggles throughout her life, but she showed great resiliency in the face of her adversities never letting anything keep her down. To Kristen, family was everything. In March of 1995, she welcomed the light of her life, Brianna. As a young mother she and Brianna were extremely close, more like sisters than mother and daughter. Kristen was a devoted mother to Brianna, always putting her first in her life, raising her to become the talented and confident young woman she is today. In the summer of 2014 Kristen welcomed into the world her next love, Kayden. She was ecstatic to have a son for whom she could continue to mother and nurture. Kayden brought so much joy and happiness to her life. She took him everywhere, wanting to spend as much time with him as possible. Being a single mother was never easy but Kristen overcame many hurdles to provide for her family, with never ending love for her children. Kristen leave to cherish her memory: her daughter, Brianna M. Smith and her son, Kayden K. Thompson; mother, Kim Pinkney and father, N. Wesley Pinkney; brother, Adam Pinkney; grandparents, Addison and Elaine Pinkney (paternal) and Cecelia Pinkney (maternal); and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. Kristen was preceded in death by her brother, Donald W. Pinkney, and will be laid to rest beside him at Woodlawn Memorial Cemetery in Woodlawn, MD.
