Kim Lee Kent Sr.

KIM LEE KENT, JR., The son of the late Edward C. Kent, SR. and Katherine Lockman Kent, was called home to by God on Wednesday, September 12, 2012. Affectionately known as “Yodie Scody”, he was born in Baltimore Maryland on May 6, 1956. Kim received his education in the Baltimore City School System. He developed his love for wrestling at the McKim Recreation Center. He continued wrestling at Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School and won the MSA Championship in the 100lb. Weight class in 1974. after graduating from Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School, he began his career at the Social Security Administration where he was employed for over 30years. Kim always said he was fortunate to have lived two lives... the one he chose and the one God had for him. While living the life that he chose, he found a relationship with God which ultimately led him to a 12-step process of recovery in December 1995. thereafter he remained clean and sober from that day forth. His success of his recovery led him to be an inspiration and sponsor to others. Kim was stead-fast in faith and service to God. He became a devoted member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Frank Reid, III, where he served on the Security and Dance Ministries, until health challenges presented him from doing so. Kim was an awesome father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle, friend, sponsor, co-worker, and performer. He truly loved his family and friends. His loyalty, love and devotion were immeasurable. He believed that in order to have good friends, he would need to be a great friend. He was considerate, kind and loving. He was very passionate about helping others and true cornerstone to the neighborhood. He had a smile that could melt your heart and a song and dance that was outstanding. But most of all, Kim knew the Lord and was a fisher of men. He lived his life to the fullest and was very transparent because he clearly understood that his life was not his own. Kim had many gifts and talents. He had a passion for acting and singing, which led him to perform in several plays, “SSA Color Purple and Ain't Misbehavin”. He will always be remembered as a member of the Metro West Temps and for his renditions of James Brown, Tina Turner, and Little Richard. Kim was also an avid sports fan and loved the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens. We shall miss his love, encouragement, outgoing personality and big smile. We will forever honor his legacy of :devotion to family”, Kim leaves to cherish his memories his sons Kim Kent, Jr., Kenard Johnson; five grandchildren, Armani, Kendall, Ashley, Kennard, Jr. and Madison; sisters, Judith Winters and Denise Crawford; brothers Arthur Kent and Todd Kent, SR.; one brother-in-law, Darryl Crawford; an aunt, Joan Lockman; cousins Terri Ross Pollock and Joanne Lockman, a host of neices, nephews and cousins. A special devoted friend Christie Evans. He will also be affectionately remembered by The Loch Raven Group, his sponsor Wayne Cobb and Desiree Kellam who he fondly referred to as his neice.
