Kenneth Ray Brannum

Kenneth Ray “Ken” Brannum Sr., son of the late Joe Louis Brannum Sr. and Gladys Jean Brannum, was born December 30, 1962 in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School of Baltimore City with a concentration in electronics. Ken played Quarterback for Pop Warner, the Overly Orangeman and Mervo. His superior athletic talents awarded him the honor of being abducted in the Overly Football Hall of Fame for which he was presented with a plague recognizing his outstanding achievements on the field. After high school, Kenneth Brannum Sr. enlisted into the United States Army where he served as a Tactical Communications System Operator. While in the military, his goals for greatness continued as Kenneth received many honorable accolades and awards for bravery, teamwork, exceptional performance including, that of, his engineering and mechanical expertise. Past his time serviced—Ken returned home from Germany eager about life and all that he learned during his travels. He became a correctional officer for the State of Maryland at the Jessup Facility. After working nearly 20 years there, he attended the schools of Medix and Baltimore City Community College where he studied Massage Therapy. Later on, he found a new passion working for the Baltimore Washington Parkway Airport where he enjoyed an exciting career driving for the transportation department. K—kind hearted, loving and overly generous person who would give you his last; E—an exquisite love for fine attire and nice shoes, and N—neighborly to everyone with whom he came into contact. You didn’t have to get to know Ken to understand him: he possessed a natural philanthropic personality, was very down to earth, open for conversation with anyone about diversified topics. He was extremely passionate about his wife and adored his children especially his granddaughter Reign. Kenneth loved all of his family and friends; he had an unbreakable bond with his siblings. He admired his Uncle Allen and was wild over his cousins. His amazing life will forever be cherished in the lives of his wife: Mary Brannum; children: Natasha R. Brannum, Regina Brannum, Kenneth Brannum Jr.; stepsons: Peter and Jamel; grandchild: Reign Arrington; son-in-law: Rob Arrington (Regina); father-in-law: TJ Samuel; brothers: Joe L. Brannum Jr., Shawn Brannum and Richard Brannum; sisters: Patricia Brannum and Darlene Carter: nieces and nephews: Gary, Amber, Abdul, Jasmine, Malik, Jaelyn, Antoine and Kemp; sisters-in-law: Dr. Gwen Grant-Brannum (Joe Jr.), Rev. Dr. Natasha Brannum (Shawn) and Rose Samuel; brother-in-law: Charles Harris (Darlene); grandma Rosie Strickland (100 years); uncles: Walter Strickland, Claude Strickland, Allen Hill Jr.; cousins: Allen Hill III “Tiger”, Jamal, Maleek, Ashanti, Kamryn, Deborah “Debbie Jean” and James, Lisa, Quanda and Joe, Dontrell, Shaquan, Nyshia, Denise and Nylah; a beautiful host of other devoted uncles, aunts, cousins,coworkers and friends.
