Katie M. Boddie

KaTie Maude Boddie was born on April 2, 1929 in North Carolina one of 13 children to Willie and Katie Dortch (11 preceded her in death) one still living (Bernice Bullock of North Carolina). Katie Maude departed this life on August 4, 2014. Katie Maude received her education in Edgecomb County, North Carolina. She was soft spoken, had a mild manner and heart of gold. She was a very hard worker and was dedicated to her family. Katie Maude (affectionately called Mulla by her children) truly experienced the greater happiness in giving because she constantly put others interest before her own. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother yet never seemed to age. All who came in contact with her loved her very much. Katie Maude had a great love for cooking. She was well known for her potato salad and homemade biscuits (the whole of Lexington Street was crazy about those biscuits). She also had an attachment to talking on the telephone; any with whom she conversed knew she could go for a while. Katie Maude symbolized her dedication to Jehovah and was baptized in 1962 as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. She rarely missed her meetings at the Kingdom Hall even when her illness made it very difficult to attend. When Katie Maude couldn't do as much in the public ministry as she would have liked, she would do letter writing and conducted bible studies over the telephone. Her love and companionship will be missed by her devoted husband of 67 years Frank Boddie. From this union they had six children; Kenneth Boddie preceded her in death. Left to cherish her memory are: five children, Morris, Alvis and Michael Boddie, Wilma Shannon and Angela Matthews; daughterss-in- law, Florence, Patricia and Gloria Boddie; sons-in-law, Morris Shannon and Gary Matthews; sixteen grandchildren, Annette, Morris Jr., Alisa, Antonio, Purnell, Aaron, Anthony, Derrick, Yulonda, Melvin, Tina, Michael Jr., Kenneth Jr., Tyrell, Adaisha and Asia; a host of great and great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and close friends. She had a special fondness for her adopted daughters Diane Robinson and Lynette Gainous.
