Kathy Carol Barr

KATHY CAROL BARR, daughter of the late Charlie H. and Anna L. Barr, was born on April 9, 1956 in Baltimore, Maryland. She departed this life on March 15, 2006. Over ten years ago, Kathy accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and became a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. She recently rededicated her life to Christ and joined Maranatha Baptist Church. Kathy attended Baltimore City public schools and graduated from Frederick Douglass Senior High in 1971. After graduating from high school, Kathy delayed pursuance of her personal dreams and career in order to be the primary caretaker for her ill mom and younger siblings. She continued to be a pillar of strength, love, devotion and protection throughout her life. It is often said that the start and end dates of a person's life is not what is important-it's that "dash" in between and what happens during that period. Kathy's "dash" speaks greatly of the kind of love God calls us to have for one another. Family unity was paramount to Kathy and you could always count on her to "be in your corner", "encourage your way" and "correct your path". And, family kinship was so important to Kathy that she would establish road trips from New York to Philadelphia and South Carolina to ensure that nieces, nephews and cousins united to form close relationships. Her defining ideals in life were to know and love your family. On June 11, 1985, Kathy married Clifford Doggett, who preceded her in death. Kathy worked many years for the Social Security Administration and most recently for John Hopkins PharmaQuip. Preceding her in death: two sisters, Rose Florence and Ileen Jackson; four brothers, Jesse, John C., Jerry and Timothy; two brothers-in-law, Wylie Jackson and Ray Florence. She leaves to cherish her memory: two brothers, Charles and Warren; three sisters, Diane, Patricia and Bessie; three sisters-in-law: Nettie, Gloria and Yvonne; three aunts, Anna Cunningham, Carrie Bell and Sally Lincoln; three uncles, Charles Cooper (Lobell), Mort Barr and William Barr; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Kathy also leaves behind: her fiancŽ, Eric X. Clifton, Sr. who brought her much joy, love and comfort; and two best friends, Sherry Jones and Geral Gross. Kathy was a devoted sister, aunt and true friend. To God be the glory for her life and all the things that He has done. Amen.
