A Time To Be Born A Time To Die: Kathryn Trusty Dean, daughter of the late Sarah and Joseph Trusty and devoted wife of the late Charles Dean, was born on January 14, 1917 in Baltimore, Maryland. The Lord in His mercy took her home quietly on Friday, December 13, 2002.A Time To Gain: Kathryn, known as “Cass” or “Cassie,” received her formal education at Frederick Douglass High School in Baltimore, Maryland.A Time To Love: Cassie was a devoted wife to Charles and devoted mother to daughter, Doris, who predeceased her, and son, James. Family was the center of her life. Not only did she love and care for her own children, grandchildren and great-grandson, Darian; she lovingly cared for, encouraged and supported other children and adults with whom she came in contact. Possessing a ready smile and quite manner, she will surely be missed by everyone who knew and loved her.A Time To Embrace: Kathryn was confirmed as a member of St Philip’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in 1964 and fervently embraced her faith and her church family, seldom missing a Sunday worship service or other special occasions. Throughout her illness she remained strong in her faith, which helped sustain those who cared for her. There was never a doubt that she loved the lord and trusted her God to strengthen her. A Time To Plant: Cassie was employed for thirty-five years at Johns Hopkins Hospital and loved her job. Those who worked with her loved her and described her as a devoted and faithful worker willing to go the extra mile to help others and to “get the job done right.” As a family we got to know all of those with whom she worked “on the line.” Especially Almer, Sadie, Matthews and Cousin Elaine. They became our family too. Through hard work and diligence, she was eventually promoted to nutritionist supervisor.A Time to Laugh: Cassie enjoyed life, especially giving and attending parties, picnics and short day trips. Her last outing was the Annual Crab Feast sponsored by the Lutheran Men in Mission of St Philip’s Church. She was a great must and highlight of each gathering.A Time to Keep: Family members and friends frequently called on Cassie to verify or provide names, dates and events forgotten by younger minds. She was our historian even at age eighty-four. Her sharp memory was indeed a blessing. Kathryn leaves to mourn and cherish her memory: one devoted son, James T. Dean; one stepson, Irvin Dean; one devoted daughter-in-law, Helen Dean; three grandchildren, Kim Dean Eaton, Andre Dean and James Trinell Dean; six grandchildren, Dontaz, Darin, Nyasia, Andre Jr., Jordan and Mynisha born December 16, 2002; one great-great grandson, Dontaz Jr.; two sisters, Jean T. Hunt and Thelma Jefferson; one granddaughter-in-law, Nichaun Dean; one grandson-in-law, Gregory Eaton; one brother-in-law, Roland Hunt; three sisters-in-law, Yvonne Harvey, Iona Watson, Dorothy Dean; and a host of devoted nieces , nephews, other relatives, devoted neighbors and friends.
