Kathryn Gladney

Kathryn Gladney departed this life on August 8, 2016 due to a massive infection. She was born May 13, 1958 to the late Louise Stevenson and James L. Gladney Sr. in Baltimore, Maryland. She was the youngest of eight siblings. Kathryn was educated through the Baltimore City Public School System where she graduated from Dunbar Senior High School. After graduation at age 18 she began a long lasting career at Johns Hopkins Hospital where she worked in Central Storage for thirty-two years. During her stay at Hopkins she helped numerous family members and friends find employment there. She also made many friends along the way. Kathryn, known as "Kat" or "Aunt Kat" to her loved ones and friends, loved life. She enjoyed listening to R & B and gospel music, watching the news, soap operas, baseball, football, and most of all wrestling (Monday Night Raw and Smackdown). She also loved to cook, eat, and play the lottery. Although she became ill in 2008, no longer able to walk and confined to a wheelchair at Long Green Nursing Home in Towson, Maryland, her stubborn nature never stopped her desire to live. She found purpose in her life. She became an advocate for other patients in the home. She was a pillar to her family that special someone you could lean on in your time of trouble. She made sure she told you she loved you. Her most admirable display of love was the love she showed for her one and only son Eronnies and her grandson Dayshawn, everlasting and unwavering. May her heart of gold and fighting spirit continue on as shejourneys home to be with the Lord and may it remain a memory in our hearts and minds. She leaves to mourn: her beloved son, Eronnies Coleman; grandson, Dayshawn Coleman; brother, Jessie Gladney and sister, Sheila Gladney; six nephews, Daniel Gladney, Brian Gladney, Michael Gladney, Adrian Gladney, Jessie (Deli) Gladney Jr. and Richard D. Walker Sr.; six nieces, Tonya Gladney, Apirl Gladney, Antionette (Michelle) Scott, Nicole Scott, Felicia L. Taylor, Latasha D. Drummond; and a host of extended family and friends. Preceding her in death are her two brothers, Thomas L. Gladney and James L. Gladney Jr.; three sisters, Elaine Gladney, Joyce Gladney, and Shirley Gladney; great-aunt, Rosie Canty; aunt, Estella Stevenson; three uncles, Willie James Stevenson, Elmo Gladney and Dennis Redds Gladney; best friend and brother-in-law, Charles Nash; four cousins, Elizabeth Drumwright, Pauline Curbeam, Margret Prichett, Alice Stevenson and nephew, Antonio Troy Sr.
