Karen Norma James

KAREN NORMA JAMES, devoted daughter of James Bagley Sr. and Lolita Lopez-Bagley, was born on January 1, 1952 in Turner Station, Maryland. She departed this life to be with the Lord on October 16, 2003 after a brief illness.Karen received God into her life at an early age under the leadership of Rev. Fleming.She received her education in the Baltimore County Public School System, graduating from Dundalk Senior High School. She attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where she received an AA degree in Accounting.Karen spoke fluent French, was efficient in short hand, typed 100 words per minute, was very computer literate and was a fluent reader. Her favorite books were the Holy Bible and Cosmo.She was employed by the City of Baltimore as a secretary in the office of Mayor William Donald Schaefer, moving onward to the State of Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation as a procurement officer, where she remained until her early retirement.On September 10, 1975, she was joined in holy matrimony to Allen James. Karen was a loving, devoted wife. No one could hold a candle to the love and affection that she had for her daughter Cheryl…how she adored her little girl.A very vocal person who loved to talk, she could charm sweetness out of sugar, and did she have a sense of humor! Caring for those whom she loved was a joy for Karen, especially her sisters and brothers. She left the following message for them:“My greatest inspiration in life was my mother and my God. He will see you through. Listen to Mommy. One thing I’ve learned in life that I wish to pass on to you, learning not to talk too much. Stop fighting amongst each other, leave the past where it belongs. Love each other and love Mommy.Remember my laughter and my giving. Your children are precious. Don’t let it get somewhat estranged between you and them. Make God first.”Karen James was a good daughter, a caring, loyal sister, a wonderful wife, a loving, affectionate mother, a tender, loving grandmother and a great friend.She leaves to cherish her memory: her only child, Cheryl P. Bagley; three grandchildren, Harry F. Chase, Patricia M. Chase and Christopher R. Chase; mother, Lolita B. Lopez-Bagley; father, James T. Bagley; three brothers, Warren A. Lopez, Spencer T. Bagley and James T. Bagley Jr.; one sister-in-law, Dolly Willis-Bagley; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
