Ka're E. Smith

Ka'Re Elijah Smith, son of Derrick Smith and Kimberly Rouse Smith, was born on January 13, 1994 at University of Maryland Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. He departed this life on July 13, 2015 after a fatal accident. Ka're also known as "Ree" was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. He was a graduate of Baltimore Liberation Diploma Plus High School. Ka're had a great passion for dirt bikes, repairing and rebuilding them. He was in apprenticeship training to become a diesel mechanic, at the Treasure Trucking Co. His plans were to start a Dirt Bike repair shop and a Lawn Care business. He enjoyed baking, playing basketball with his friends and playing games on his ex-box with his nephews and cousin Du'shawn. Ka're had a special smile that could make your heart melt. He was never disrespectful even when he was being punished or hurting. His pride and joy was spending time with his daughter Ka'Marley, his family, and his friends and of course his dirt bikes. Ka're had a special bond with his brother Michael. He was so excited when he got his drivers license and his brother let him drive his car. He ran in the house and said, "I got my license can I drive the car" and Mike threw the keys up the steps to him. Ka're and his mother Kim were entwined as one. They had an unbreakable and special bond that began when she began singing Nancy Wilson's song to him before he was born. His love for her was apparent and he told her so. She nurtured him through his childhood with a firm but loving hand that was apparent in his respect for the people in the 1600 block. Together, they instilled family and love in his daughter. Kim wanted to share her son, and she did so when she allowed University to share him with five (5) people. He also had a unique relationship with his grandmother Mrs. Ruthie Rouse. He could talk her into giving him anything, anytime day or night. He loved her unconditional and she loved him. Whenever his grandmother would get on his nerves with her preaching about life he would smle and say "okay grandma, I will talk to you later" or "I know." Special thanks to Branden Wells who was instrumental in helping Ka're reach his goal in graduating when all the odds were against him. Ka're had the sweetest smile. He could melt a heat with just a flash of that smile. He was so well loved in the neighborhood. He was known to be respectful in any situation. His light will be sorely missed around 1600 N. Smallwood Street. On Monday July 13, 2015 there was a call from Heaven. This call was seeking help for five people who needed special help. Who stepped up to the plate and said I got this? None other than Ka're saying, I got this. Heaven's gates opened up and Ka're rode in. Ka're leaves to cherish his memory; Mother Kimberly Rouse-Smith, Father, Derrick Smith, daughter, Ka'Marley Smith (Jasmine Bouie), two grandmothers, Ruthie Rouse and Brenda Blackston, two brothers, Michael T. Carberry (Jamie), Rashad Smith (Tara), Godmother, Malaika-Tamur Cooper, one aunt, Tracey Coleman, Five uncles, Marion J. Rouse (Carole), Rufus M. Rouse, Carlos Rouse (Jacque), Kirk Wallace (Bernice), Ronald Dixon, and Ralph Smith. One grand aunt, Essie Leslie of Washington , DC, two grand uncles, Terry Grainger and Wallace Rouse, three great-grand aunts Mannie Rogers, Gertha Lee Lighty and Jessie Mae Moses from South Carolina. Many cousins and a host of very good friends. Two close friends Jasmine and Precious.
