Junior McGee

Junior “June McGee was born November 9, 1939 to the late Walter McGee and Alice Pittman McGee in Halifax Enfield, North Carolina. He departed from this world on Friday , April 16th because God called him home to receive his wings and his assignment on was fulfilled. In the mid 1940's June received his education in Halifax County Grade School. He quit school in the third 3rd grade to work as a sharecropper . He later met and married the former Carol Jean Banks and from that union they were blessed with four beautiful daughters Savannah, Doris, Rether and Linda. June had always been a hard worker for which the song “May the Work I've Done Speak For Me” describes his legacy. In 1970's he owned a store for several years and later worked at Tommy's Seafood Vendor at Northeast Market in Baltimore, MD until he met Mr. Goodwin . Mr. Goodwin became a good friend to June and persuaded him to work at the E. Goodwin and Son Fish Market in Jessup, MD. June worked there for 40 years before he he became too sick to work in 2009. June was a peaceful and friendly individual who enjoyed the simple things in life .He enjoyed western movies and his brisk walk everyday . His favorite passtime was teaching his self to learn to play guitar. His favorite song was “Sittin On the Dock of the Bay. By Otis Redding and favorite saying was “James Brown” which his daughters heard often as little girls.. God granted June the last couple years of his life to spend time with his precious jewels, his four daughters whom he cherished with all his heart. He leaves to mourn in his memory: four daughters Savannah Mitchell, Doris Smith, Rether and Linda McGee; former wife Carol Cole; seven grandchildren Savannah Michele Lewis, Brain Michael Owens, Ashley La Rae, Adrian La Rae and Cedric Demitrios Smith, Gabrielle Alicia Tolliver and Michael Lauren Sterling; ten great-grandchildren Taikwan Nathaniel Lewis, Demitri and Shawn Payne, Sidnee and Cierra Jackson, Kymani Lewis-Campbell, Maurice Emmanuel Smith, Madison Nicole Wildy, Zackery Demitrios and Zoie'e Demetria Smith; two brothers Elie and Roosevelt McGee; two son-in-laws Cedric Demitrios Smith and Curtis Mitchell, Jr.; A host of loving nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Three brothers Percy, James, Curtis and two sister Lilly and Catherine preceded him in death.
