Julius Dunbar

JULIUS DUNBAR, SR., son of the late Roscoe and Veronica Dunbar, was born on October 31, 1930 in Bayonne, New Jersey. He received his early childhood education in the Jersey City, New Jersey public school system. He relocated to Baltimore, Maryland in 1972. He continued his education at Villa Julie College in Stevenson, Maryland where he received his degree in Stenography.As the sun set on Wednesday afternoon of August 13, 2003, Julius was summoned to the House of the Lord after a brief illness.He met the former Marlyn Thompson while she was performing a civil duty as a jurist in the Circuit Court of Maryland during May of 1975. They were united in holy matrimony on March 11, 1977. From this union two sons were born, Julius Jr. and Marlon. They were his pride and joy.He worked in the Circuit Court of Maryland as a Court Stenographer until his retirement in 1978. He was very proud of his previously held occupations, such as Furniture Maker, Salesman for Fox Chevrolet and as a Sales Specialist for King Memorial Park. He recent occupation at R&R Remodeling and Supply, Inc. brought him much joy as a Marketing Director.He was an avid jazz music lover. He performed in several jazz quintets over the years. He mastered several music instruments, which included the flute, trumpet, piano and the bongo drums. He also devoted time to photography as a hobby. One of his most notable accomplishments was being chosen as an actor in the motion picture “And Justice For All.”He was a devoted husband and dedicated father who spent time with his sons. During their school years, he was a very involved parent. He always took the time to introduce new things to his sons, as well as being a father figure to other kids in the neighborhood, who referred to him as “Uncle D”. He was also fond of cooking, painting and sewing. He participated in the Boy Scouts Troop #496m for several years. The Christmas Tree Sale and making decorations were fun for him.He leaves to mourn: his wife, Marlyn Dunbar; two sons, Julius Jr. and Marlon; four grandchildren; three sisters, Irene Riveria of Florida and Rosemarie Martinez and Angelina Laborda from New York City; one brother Robert Dunbar of Live Oak, Florida; two brothers-in-law, Angelo Martinez of New York City and Jerome Thompson Jr. of Baltimore, Maryland; one sister-in-law Corrine Dunbar of Live Oak, Florida; and aunt Grace Linkhorn of Titusville, Florida; cousins, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
