Julia B. Fisher

Julia Belle Fisher was born on March 14, 1924 in Dinwiddie County, Virginia to the late Willie K. and Lillian Williams. She started her Christian life at Rocky Branch Baptist Church in Petersburg, Virginia. She received her education at The Daniel Webster David High School located on the Virginia State College Campus. In 1955, she met and married the late Thomas B. Fisher Jr. where he relocated her to Baltimore, Maryland. From this union three children, Thomas (Tommy), Michael and Rita were born. In 1955, she joined New Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland where Reverend John L. Leary presided. In 1974, she found her passion in Child Care as a Foster Parent. This carried on twenty-five years and six hundred children and babies later. In 1999, she had to retire from her passion due to health reasons, but that didn't stop her from caring for children and babies as nothing did. She loved her grandchildren; there was nothing she would not do for them and she even watched the neighborhood children. Julia loved to travel back and forth to Virginia to visit her nephew, Johnny and his wife, Patricia. Her first airplane flight to Disney World was at the age of eighty-six years old. She so was excited to fly. While on the flight she turned to Rita and asked "Rita, what is that white stuff?' I said Momma they are clouds, we are above the clouds. She was so amazed at being over the clouds that for her next plane trip to Las Vegas, her bags were packed a month in advance. She loved going to the casinos in Atlantic City. She enjoyed playing the penny machines so much that she would save up all her pennies and carry them around in a Crown Royal bag. She also loved playing the lottery her favorite number was 110. Her two grandchildren, Chantel and Shamieka were the apple of her eye until her GREAT GRANDDAUGHTER, Denaya showed up and knocked everybody out of the box and STOLE her heart!!! Rain, sleet nor snow would stop her from walking Denaya to school each and every day. During her time at New Mount Hebron Baptist Church, she served on The Flower Circle, the Pastor's Aide Ministry and she also served some very tasty dinners to support the church until her health declined. Throughout her illness, Shamieka provided unconditional care because of the love she had for her grandmother. Julia was preceded in death by: her husband, Thomas; son, Michael; two sisters, Virginia and Hazel; brother, Willie K. Williams Jr.; sisters-in-law, Lottie and Kandie; and son-in-law, Lloyd Phillips. She leaves to celebrate her life: son, Tommy (Johanna), Rita (Earl); granddaughter, Chantel, Shamieka, Rhondesha; great-grandchildren, Denaya, Zyion, Zalik, Jayda and Cristianna; special nephew, Johnny (Patricia); special grandson, Kenny Brooks; and a host of family and friends.
