Juanita Delores Goode

In Loving Memory of Juanita Delores Charles Goode Juanita Charles Goode was affectionately known to family and childhood friends as “Pig”. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on July 19, 1939, to the late Samuel and Maria Charles. On Friday, August 16, 2024, Juanita peacefully entered eternal rest. Juanita was educated in the Richmond Public School system and was a member of Armstrong High School, Class of 1959. Juanita accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a faithful member of Pilgrim Baptist Church until her health began to decline. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Ushers Ministry, Pastor’s Aide Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Wednesday Noon Day Bible Study and the Senior’s Ministry. She could often be seen assisting the fellowship committee preparing and serving meals. On November 10, 1960, Juanita was united in holy matrimony to her high school sweetheart William (Bubba) Jake Goode, Jr. The couple became inseparable and shared 61 years together. Due to failing health (disability) Juanita retired from Interbake Foods Company (FFV) after 28 years of service. Briefly she was employed by Philip Morris as a food server. Juanita enjoyed a life of leisure as she loved lounging on the sofa napping or watching television. She loved shopping, traveling, dining out and talking to friends over the telephone. She found great joy and excitement at the casino. She had a generous heart and loved giving gifts to others. Juanita loved to socialize among family and friends. Family was important to her. In 1990 Juanita was instrumental in the organization of the Charles Family Reunion. She looked forward to attending the family reunion each year. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Goode, Jr. Parents Samuel and Maria Charles. Sisters: Marie Hunter, Hattie Wade, Mary Charles, and Dorothy Charles. Brothers: Jake Davis, Eli Charles, Leroy Charles, McCommordore Charles, Sr. and twin brother, Warren Charles. Juanita leaves to cherish her memory: daughter: Rev. Towanda Goode Johnson (John); three sons: William L. Goode (Jacqueline), Minister Johnathan S. Goode (Faith) and Bernardo C. Goode, Sr. (LaTonya); two grandsons: Bernardo Goode, Jr., and John Johnson III; three granddaughters: Brittni Logan, Tatiana Goode and Tayla Goode; brother: Robert Charles Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends, and neighbors.
