Joyce L. Hayward

Joyce Lee Hayward was born on March 30, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York at the Brooklyn Jewish Hospital to the late William Lee Veney and Della Mae Johnson Veney. She is preceded in death by two of her siblings, Gerald and Annessa; two sons-in-law Napoleon E. Crudup, Sr. and DuWan Jaymes Hyman. Joyce attended P.S. 3 Elementary School, Junior High School 258, Eastern District High and OIC Learning Center. In 1961, Joyce Lee married her childhood sweetheart and the love of her life William Hayward “Bayboy”. From this union four daughters were born: Alesia, Sherice, Kandis and Ashante. Joyce worked for Underwriters Adjusting Company and Continental Insurance Company as a legal secretary where she later retired after working 28 years at the age of 59 (2004) to care for her beloved husband William of 49 years, who passed in 2010. Joyce’s favorite pastime was Bingo where she was a BINGO extraordinaire. She would memorize the bingo boards without any chips before computers. She made friends and had a Bingo family. Joyce was a strong, caring, compassionate, loving, giving, protective devoted mother and wife. Anyone who met Joyce will never forget her enthusiasm for life, sweet spirit and a warm loving friend she was to many. Joyce had a warm and huge heart with the most beautiful smile. She was the epitome of beauty, strength and dedicated to her family. Joyce leaves behind to cherish her memories of a loving, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend to: four adored daughters, Alesia Salas, Sherice Albin (Dana), Kandis Hayward and Ashante Thompson (Jason); 10 grandchildren, Nayrice, M’Shari, Rigoberto, Napoleon, William, Deja, DuWan, Samia, Seth and Kiajai; extended grands, Te’Shondell, Mia, Keanu, Tamisha, Gerrell, Claude, HaKeem, and Medina; great-grandchildren, Mhilae, Niem, ZaKye, Natalie, Amir, Zion, Zyaire, Orion, Moon, Sage, Nova, Laiana and extended great-grands, Cameron, Macen, Irina, Imani, Irie, Imari and Gianna; 3 Godchildren, Denise, Kevon and Mark Anthony; caring siblings, Anthony, Roxane, and Tania; sister-in-law, Marion Carter, niece/best friend, Caren Carter (Bunny); close friends, Frances Rivers, Cynthia Green, Sylvia Pryor, Shanene Andy Harris; and her grandpup, Greyson.
