Joseph F. Wells Jr.

JOSEPH FLIPPER WELLS, JR., the oldest of four children of Helen J. Wells and the late Joseph F. Wells Sr., was born on March 11, 1955 in Baltimore, Maryland. Joseph, Joe or Joey as he was affectionately known to family and friends attended Baltimore city public schools graduating from Baltimore Polytechnic Institute in 1973. He attended Morgan State University and graduated from Sojourner Douglas College in 1987. As a lifetime member of Wayland Baptist Church, Joe accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He was very active in multiple ministries such as the Sunday School, choirs, youth group, basketball team, and Boy Scouts. Joseph loved his Wayland family and was in attendance at services as often as his health allowed. Joe had a diversified work career including the food industry, public service, education, computer repair, disc jockey, and various retail endeavors. Utilizing his culinary skills, he prepared and shared many meals with folks in need. As an avid fisherman, Joey was always willing to share his expertise and tackle. He enjoyed many hobbies such as reading, playing and coaching baseball with Forest Park Little League, attending games, especially his Orioles and Ravens, watching sports and raising freshwater tropical fish. As a member of the Forest Park Senior Center, he participated in various activities a favorite of which was the Pinochle Club. Joey loved his family immensely and considered summers spent in Warsaw, Virginia with his grandmother, aunts, uncles, and cousins some of the best times of his life. He adored his children with all his heart and that feeling extended to neighbors, friends and co-workers. Joey loved making others laugh and you could always count on him for a smile. Joseph departed this life on April 25, 2014. He leaves to cherish his memory: his mother, Helen Juanita; sons, Delvan (Trevin), Marcus (Shirelle), Mica (Ciara), Dion; daughter, Marcia Wells-Davis (Tank); brother, David; brother-of-the-heart, Don Anderson; sisters, Karen Anderson and Brenda Wells; grandchildren, Tiarra, Tionna, Tamia, Marquis, Paul, Marcus Jr., Tradawnna, Keith, Micah, Amarni, Kenyon, Shiann, Amante, Tyrese, Cadynn; aunts, Mable Wells of Washington, D.C., Evelyn Parker and Margaret Taylor of Warsaw, Virginia, and John and Ann Taylor of Fayetteville, North Carolina; caring friends, Ahanna (Reedy) McCutheon Biner and Margie Shird; lifelong buddy, Ricky Silva; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
