Joseph L. Hightower

Joseph Liston Hightower (Joey) was the son of William Hightower Sr. and Delores Hightower, who both preceded him in death. Joey was born in Baltimore, MD on November 25, 1962. He graduated from Lake Clifton Senior High School in 1980 and began his career in parking that summer. He was a loyal employee of Edison Parking for twenty-five years where he received numerous awards and honors for his outstanding management and customer service. After leaving Edison, Joey had a stellar as Operations Manager at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center via Broadway Services. One of Joey's favorite aspects of his job was getting to engage with people. he was known for being on campus by 4:00 a.m. and beginning each day with a smile. Joey was diagnosed with Stage IV Pancreatic Cancer on September 11, 2015. Upon receiving his diagnosis Joey made the brave decision to concentrate on enjoying his time with his family, friends, pets and those he loved. Joey spent much of his spare time taking pleasure in his many hobbies including working on cars, computers and watching movies. He always enjoyed talking to people and engaging in conversation while sparking up new relationships. Joey lived his entire life following a righteous path and formally accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior on November 15, 2015. He left this world on February 14th, 2016 exactly as he desired, peacefully and at home. he leaves behind to cherish his memory: his wife Patricia Hightower (Thumbie), daughter Mercedes Hightower and son Joseph Hightower Jr. along with his sisters Cheryl Hightower and Glenda Tunstall (Frank). His only brother William Hightower Jr. preceded him in death. He also had many in-laws including Odessa, Peggy, Robin, Byron, Tyrene and Jay. He had a strong bond with his sisters-in-law, Theresa Maxfield and Bandi Wilson. Joey's nieces and nephews included Anne, Bria, Michael, Sade, Sean, Tonio, and Timothy. He had a particularly special bond with Derrell, Jermaine, and Kiara. He also had a host of great nieces, nephews and many other family members. Though Joey had an incalculable number of friends, he had exceptional relationships with Bill, Daryl, Dean, Elijah and Marty. He never met a person whose name he did not remember and who did not become important to him. Joey was a kind and generous man who will always be missed; his memory will be one of love, happiness and awareness.
