Joseph A. Breckenridge III

JOSEPH AUGUSTINE BRECKENRIDGE, III, son of Joseph Augustine Breckenridge Jr. and the late Mary Elizabeth Breckenridge, was born on May 29, 1958 in Baltimore, Maryland. An angel was sent from above as he slept and called him home to Glory. He entered into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2011. Joseph was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated from Frederick Douglass High School. He was united in marriage to Monica Johnson in 1990. Out of this union two beautiful children, Jewel and Joseph IV were born. He loved his family and would always go the extra mile to make sure that they not only had what they needed, but also whatever they wanted. He was proud of his children and often bragged about them about everything. Joe was a true father and also a true friend to many. He was affectionately known to his family and friends as “Jake” and “Jay”. He was always able to add a smile to someone’s face or lend a helping hand. Jake’s favorite hobbies were listening to loud popular music, riding dirt bikes, selling cars, eating crabs, long talks and watching his son JB play basketball. He also enjoyed church service every Sunday. In his early years of employment, he worked in the family business with his father at the “Breckenridge Painting Company”. Shortly after Joe devoted twenty-five years to McCormick Company, where he later retired. His love for putting a smile on someone’s face was his drive to obtain his Car Dealer’s License and take classes to become a Foster Care Provider. Joe would say, “Everyone should have a home or a car, just to sleep if nothing else.” On October 8, 2009, Joe was blessed with adding a new pride and joy in his life with the birth of his first grandbaby, “Bryce call him “Pop-Pop”. Bryce could do no wrong in his eyes and he would let him get away with everything. Joe leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Monica Breckenridge; one daughter, Jewel Breckenridge; one son, Joseph A. Breckenridge IV; one grandson, Bryce Hudgins; father, Joseph A. Breckenridge Jr.; four sisters Debbie (Emery), Dieidra, Gina (David) and Lisa; one brother, Antoine; mother-in-law, Dorothy Johnson; two nieces, Kimberly Barber and Tiffany Jennings; two nephews, Darren Parham and Carlos Jennings; and a host of other relatives and devoted friends.
