Joseph Anderson

JOSEPH ANDERSON, son of the late William and Martha Anderson, was born on January 22, 1928 in Wilson, North Carolina. He departed this life suddenly on January 8, 2017. He attended public school in Wilson and began working at an early age. He married early and became a proud father. When he moved to Baltimore, he became employed by the Baltimore County school system and worked there faithfully for 30 years before retiring. Even after retirement he continued working up to the time of his death. He really liked working and said he would continue to work as long as he was able because "work keeps your mind occupied and your hands busy". After he was widowed, he married Ethel Ruth Pearson and just passed the 44 year mark of marriage on December 2, 2016. Joseph made friends easily wherever he went and will be sincerely missed by those who knew him. He was loving to his family and lived his life to the fullest. Joseph became a member of Christian Life Church in 2014 and was a faithful member up to his death. He thought of Christian Life Church members as his extended family and rarely missed attendance. He fully participated in male-oriented events at the church and Sunday School, often staying in church for both morning services. He enjoyed talking about the church with his family and brought church programs home for others to read. He was excited about the building of the new church and looked forward to seeing it completed. He possessed a lot of energy and stamina for a man of his age. He was a "sharp" dresser and carried himself well. Joseph leaves behind to grieve; his wife, Ethel Ruth Anderson; children, Dianne, Sequoya, Terry, Dena, Jamal; grandchildren,nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was an amazing man. He will be remembered for his love, kindness and generosity. He was compassionate and a good neighbor. He was very positive and looked at the cup as being half full, not half empty. He really seldom complained. It wasn't his nature. His outlook was positive. His family is grateful that the Lord granted him long life without sickness and he enjoyed relatively good health until the end. He was sorrowful that four of his sons had passed away, and a a grandson just this past September. He never expected to outlive any of them but did not question God. We, his family, celebrate his life and desire to be caught up in the air along with him when Jesus comes. No one knows the heart of a man but God. A person is known by their actions. There was a change in Joseph's life after he returned to church. His conversation changed. He called Jesus Lord. He had faith in God. God knows who belongs to Him. All who loved Joseph Anderson miss him, and grieve, but know his appointed time came just as ours will.
