Mrs. Johnnie Mae Shaw

EARLY LIFE Born February 14, 1923, in Pickens, South Carolina, the seventh of eleven children to James and Katie Brown. EDUCATION She received her education in the Johnston, South Carolina, school system. FAITH JOURNEY She started her Christian walk at Bland Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Simon Wickson. After relocating to Baltimore, she joined First Apostolic Faith Church in 1994 under the leadership of the late Bishop Winfield A. Showell and current pastor, Apostle Cornelius Showell, and received the Holy Ghost. Johnnie Mae loved music and the preached word. She was known to lend her alto to The Brown Singers, which was inclusive of her siblings. FAMILY Johnnie Mae was a devoted wife and a loving mother. To her marriage were born two sons, David Jr. and Earthey Major Shaw, whom she cherished deeply. Family was the cornerstone of her life, and she showed unwavering love and strength in supporting those she cared about. After the passing of her brother's wife, Johnnie Mae's compassion and sense of duty shone even brighter. She stepped in as a strong, nurturing caregiver for his ten children, ensuring that the family remained united and cared for. Her selflessness and dedication left a legacy of love, resilience, and family togetherness. WORK She worked in a factory, drove a cab, and did domestic work. Johnnie Mae passed peacefully on November 7, 2025, joining her sons David Shaw, Jr. and Earthey Major Shaw. Daughter-in-Law, Alethia Shaw, Granddaughters Ingrid Shaw McCoy and Kellie Shaw. She leaves to value and cherish her memory, four grandchildren, Marla (Ryan), Antoinette, and Donnette. Six great-grandchildren, Grace, David, Jasmine Chantel, Jordan, Ryan, Jr., and Kiera. Three great great-grandchildren, Kaidyn, Saige, and Ajani. Her beloved sister, Elberta Harris (106). Her bonus children, Mary, Shirley, Gratice (Mattie), Marguerite Vivian, Sarah, (Bruce), Paul (Eva), and Beatrice, One Godson, Michael Brown. Many nieces, nephews cousins, and friends. WISDOM & SAYINGS Known for her memorable phrases like "Hotta mighty No!", "God's Got a Way; "God doesn't Anything But Fail, ", She sometimes repeated her Dad's saying, "Well, I Declare" mess with me-He leads me", "I Love All My Nieces and Nephews", "I don't have foolishness, not hate but everybody doesn't need to be in your business "Like Saul said, I have played the fool", "I'm A Woman, if you've got something to say, Say it!!!" and "Thank you for loving me".
