John Parker

John Parker Sr. was born on June 24, 1931 to Johnny Parker and Amanda Devine in Edgemere, Maryland. He suddenly departed his life on Sunday, October 25, 2009. John received his formal education at Sparrows Point High School in Baltimore, Maryland. He served in the United States Army where he received an honorable discharge for his service to his country.John was a dedicated employee at Bethlehem Steel where he retired after 32 years of service. During his tenure he progressed to the position of General Superintendent Foreman.At a young age, John accepted Christ and joined the Ebenezer Baptist Church. John was a devoted father to seven children from his first wife, Naomi Wagstaff. As a strong example of his Christian faith, John was baptized with his seven children. He was an active disciple of Ebenezer for over 40 years where he served as a Deacon. Deacon Parker served on the Missionary Ministry for the sick and shut-in and the Intercessory Prayer Ministry. On September 27, 2009, Deacon Parker’s most recent accomplishment was successfully graduating from an intensive nine month “Master Life” course.In December 1973, John married Elrica Alexander. Elrica brought with her three sons that John proudly reared as his own.John was a fun-loving, friendly and dedicated family man. John always had a smile, a firm hand shake, and a warm greeting. He enjoyed watching westerns on television and sports were his passion. John was affectionately known as “Johnny”, “Shuggy” and “Diddie.”Deacon Parker leaves to mourn a devoted wife, Elrica; 10 children-John Jr., Donald, Leroy, Loretta, Anthony, and Zelma Parker, Gary and Donald Williams; Sheila Kellum and David Williams precede him in death. Siblings – Earl Parker, Fannie Mae Dickerson, Elizabeth Evans, Rosetta Weeks and Freddie Parker; preceded in death, Ernest and Wilbur Parker. Daughters-In-Law – Richie Williams, Linda Williams, Curtis Pandora, and Rhonda Parker; a special sister-in-law, Eugenia Anderson (Pud). There are also a host of grand and great grand children, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
