John Nesbit

JOHN NATHANIEL NESBIT, born on November 22, 1929 in Baltimore, MD to the late Willie and Geneva Nesbit, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 1, 2025 after a lengthy illness. At the age of 95, John quietly and gracefully entered eternal rest, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication. John’s journey in faith began in his early childhood when he developed a personal relationship with God and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a devoted member of Memorial Baptist Church, where he served with joy in the Senior and Male Choir and was an active participant in Sunday School. John’s love for the Lord was evident in all aspects of his life. A proud graduate of Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, John continued his service to his country by joining The United States Marine Corps, where he proudly served and was honorably discharged. Following his military service, John found his calling in entrepreneurship, owning a corner store and a cleaners in Baltimore City. He later worked at Bonaparte’s Florist on North Avenue, a job that brought him great joy. John’s warm smile and genuine kindness made him beloved by both his coworkers and the many customers who were fortunate enough to know him. His presence could always brighten a room, and his compassion touched countless lives. In his personal time, John could always be found enjoying his favorite pastime - watching sports, whether it was a local game or his beloved teams on television. And there was one thing you could always count on seeing beside him, a bowl of vanilla ice cream, his favorite treat. Those simple joys were a reflection of John’s easygoing nature and the happiness he found in life’s little pleasures. John was a man who lived with integrity, faith, and a heart full of love for those around him. He will be remembered for his unwavering spirit, his commitment to his family, his church, and his community. John’s memory will continue to inspire all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his passing: his loving sister, Evelyn Bland; two sisters -in - law, Michelle and Carol Nesbit; a special friend, Joanne; stepdaughter, Kim; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents Willie and Geneva Nesbit, brothers William (Bill), Edward (Eddy) and Jasper (Gerald) Nesbit, and sister-in-law Lana Nesbit. John is also survived by his niece and devoted caretaker, Letia Hunter, along with a host of great-nieces and great-nephews who will cherish his memory.
