John Martin Jr.

In Loving Memory On Sunday, November 23, 2025, John Martin, Jr. peacefully passed away at the age of 77, surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. John was born on February 8, 1948, in Anderson, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Martin and Mattie Ruth Martin, as well as his siblings Kenneth A. Martin, Joe Clifford Martin, and Mae F. Jones. John graduated from Westside High School in Anderson, South Carolina, and shortly after entered the United States Marine Corps. He proudly served his country for four years, completing a tour of duty in the Vietnam War, and received an honorable discharge for his service and dedication. In 1970, John began a long and impactful career in law enforcement, joining the Richmond Police Department, where he served for ten years. In 1981, he continued his commitment to public safety with the Henrico County Police Department, faithfully serving the community until his retirement in 1999. John furthered his education by earning an Associate Degree in Police Science from J. Sargent Reynolds College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminology from St. Leo University. Beyond his professional accomplishments, John was a man of fellowship, friendship, and community. He was a proud member of the Richmond Buffalo Soldiers Motorcycle Club, the Third Generation Social Club, Club 181 Social Club, and The Railroad Social Club. He was also a devoted member of Club 533, where he remained active for many years until his health declined. John leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife and caregiver of 36 years, Cassandra J. Martin; sons, Anthony C. Allen (Mellis) of Anderson, South Carolina, Marco L. Martin, and Miguel L. Martin (Trevor); daughters, Madrika L. Martin and Crissan J. Martin; stepdaughter, Tamara S. Bennett; nine beloved grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. John touched countless lives with his kindness, service, and genuine spirit. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. We will forever remember the man he was, the moments we shared, and the wisdom he imparted. He will be deeply missed by all.
