John G. Gladney, Jr.

John G. Gladney, Jr. (Little John) was born in Baltimore on July 30, 1950 to the late John G. Gladney, Sr. and Mamie L. Gladney. He departed this life on Saturday February 11, 2017. John was educated in the Baltimore City Public School Systems. At a very young age he accepted and was a member of First Apostolic Faith Church, where he attended Sunday school and sang on the choir. He was one of many that his grandmother, Lizzy McDaniel would take to Sunday School. He was employed for over 30 years at The Johns Hopkins Hospital for over 20 years in the pharmacy delivering medicine throughout the hospital. In the later years he worked at the help (welcoming) desk greeting everyone that entered the Hospital with his bug smile and directing them to areas of the hospital, until his retirement in the early 2000's After retirement he through himself into horses, arabbing, recycling, moving and hauling. He had his fleet of trucks each one working daily. John loved arabbing, horses, singing and dancing. His love for arabbing and horses was documented numerous times with articles and videos, From the horse and buggy to the stage was a routine for him. He often put on shows (singing and dancing) for fundraisers, fashion shows, cabarets and for enjoyment around Baltimore and other Cities. He was a member of many clubs, fraternities and bands, including the gospel group, The Mighty Wonders of the Baltimore Area. John was a very loving and generous and caring son, brother, father grandfather and friend to many. He taught his children loyalty to one another and family. He made everyone feel like they were special. His house was always open to family, friends and sometimes strangers in need. He had friends everywhere he went and made everyone feel like they were special. There was not one place that he went that he didn't know someone. Preceding him in death were his Father John Gladney, Sr., brothers Anthony Gladney, Sr., and Donnie Gladney. He leaves to cherish his brother Melvin Gladney, Sr., (Parmie); To aunts; Luvenia Robinson and Margerete Tape; Two Uncles Leon Gladney and James Neal. Children; Reginald (Darlene), Derek (Cynthia), Terron, Chanel, Demond,Dante, Aquilla and Yundes; 20 grandchildren, 14 great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends.
