John Fleetwood

JOHN LEE FLEETWOOD was born on June 10, 1948 in Murfreesboro, North Carolina (Hertford County) to the late Arthur Lee Fleetwood and the late Katherine Vaughan Fleetwood. John Lee, the eldest of the children, attended North Carolina Public Schools in Hertford County. Upon relocating with his family to Harford County, Maryland, he began working on Aberdeen Proving Ground at the Enlisted Men’s Mess Hall and he also worked at Meade Piping Company. Throughout his years, John Lee also worked for various businesses to include Best Mattress Company, TGI Friday’s, Ivy League Daycare Learnin Center and Pops Auto. Additionally, in the earlier years in Maryland, he moonlighted as the family babysitter for his aunts and his uncles. Word was that his younger cousins found him to be and labeled him as the best babysitter around. John Lee was a good-hearted person, who loved life and lived life to the fullest. He developed a love for landscaping, and he could often be found cutting grass and doing yard work up and down Harford and Bel Air Roads. Whenever you heard him speak, “Watch your mouth, F-O-R R-EA-L” would surely come from his mouth. He wasn’t just a sharp dresser; John Lee also knew how to have fun. He was truly and always the life of the party. He kept his family and friends laughing, smiling and dancing. His love of music and his dancing skills earned him city wide (Baltimore) and some say “worldwide” recognition as one of the “Infamous Lexington Market Dancers”. If you came to Lexington Market and John Lee was there, you were in for a treat. Though his time here on earth may seem all too short, John Lee is now dancing pain free with the angels. John Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Lee Fleetwood and Katherine Vaughan Fleetwood; siblings, Marie “Cookie” Hawkins, Patricia Joy Fleetwood, Corine Fleetwood, Blanche Fleetwood and Ricky Fleetwood. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Cyrita Danielle Fleetwood; his sisters, Waynetta Fleetwood and Barbara Jean Paige; his brother, Charles Fleetwood; his “brother-in-love, Alfred Jones aka “Buggy; his aunts, Janie Boone, Evelyn Vaughan and Nellie Vaughan; his uncles, Charlie Vaughan Jr. aka “Bud”, Alton Vaughan Sr. and Theodore Tann (Rev. Violet H Tann); many nieces, nephews and cousins; his three special friends, “The 3 Amigos”, Tina Porter-Hill, Maggie Green and Tyrone Groom; and a host of friends.
