John W. Carter

John Willis Carter was born August 26th, 1951 to the late William H. and Lillian Carter of Brooklyn, Maryland. He departed this life on September 27th, 2015 at home, after battling severe illnesses for over 4 years. While surround by his loving family God blessed John as he peacefully transitioned from this world to his final resting place with Him. He attended Brooklyn Park High School, and The University of Maryland in Baltimore County where he graduated with a B.S. degree in Biology, before attending 2 years of medical school. At the end of high school he served as an EMT (emergency medical technician) for Anne Arundel County Volunteer Fire Department. John met the love of his life Aida Calloway and they were united in holy matrimony on April 28, 1984. From this union came their pride and joy, Brittany and Alex. He loved to spend time with his children, playing video games, going to soccer games, making home videos, and taking lots of pictures. John was instrumental in helping his children through grade school, assisting with homework, school projects, and volunteering. He was even more than happy to bring Alex, at 6 months old, to Brittany’s first grade class when she wanted to show him off for show and tell. J.C. or Jackie, as he was affectionately called by his friends and family, found the love of travel early in life, and decided to turn that love into a career as a coach bus driver. He drove for many companies over the years including, Trailways, Greyhound, Voyager, and Avalon Bus Company. He also trained other bus drivers until he retired due to illness, in 2003. He loved to travel with his family, he took them with him on many bus trips. J.C. always wanted to make his passengers comfortable, so he provided many movies for them to watch as they traveled. His other passions were playing cards, his favorite game was pinochle, and he met many friends playing that game. He also spent a lot of time playing solitaire after 2003, and watching sports. His favorite teams were the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles. John accepted Christ at an early age, and was baptized. He attended Community Baptist Church, in Glen Burnie, MD, and always put Christ first in everything that he did. Whenever he needed guidance he remembered to, “Try God”, that was his moto. John made a huge impact on everyone’s life around him, he was always willing to help, without asking for anything in return. He leaves to mourn his memory, a loving and devoted wife, Aida, two children, Brittany and Alexander. A brother, William F., and four adopted brothers, Timmy (who proceeded him in death), Owen, Chris, and Terry. He also leaves: two sister in-laws, Jeanette Dixon, Shirley Cheeks-Diallo, one brother in law, Winston Calloway, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
