John R Black, Jr

John Robert Black Jr; the first child of John and Margaret Black; was born on September 29,1958 in Baltimore ,Maryland, and was undeniably a blessed gift from God. John, who was affectionately known by family and friends as: Johnnie, John Black, and “JB”,truly loved his family and friends. He always greeted you with a big smile and a hug , was genuinely happy to see you, always told you that he loved you, and you knew it because he never failed to show it. John had a big heart and one of the most generous spirits a person could ever be blessed with. John was a “people person” and everyone was his friend. He was always offering you something, any and everything, of whatever he had , as he loved sharing everything he had with those he loved and those he considered a friend; and there were many. John loved children and never failed to show genuine attention to any and every child he met. All the children in the neighborhood spoke to him; and he knew all their names too; their parents, uncles and aunts,and could tell you exactly whose family the child belong. John had a very strong mind and an excellent memory; he could tell you with extreme accuracy about people, places,and events that occurred many years ago; which would bring a smile to your face. John loved life and any of his friends can tell you that he lived it to the fullest and he never complained. John was educated in the Baltimore City School system , was employed by General Motors Assembly Corporation, and became disabled later in his life. John knew and loved God, acknowledged God In his life, and in 1991 acknowledged through baptism that his life belonged to God. On January 12,2015, during a short illness; God in his infinite wisdom saw the proper time to call John from his earthly vineyard to his heavenly home. Prior to John's passing, he had been asleep for three weeks, where he was given the opportunity to explore his life on this earth to connect with God, and get a glimpse of his eternal life. And he must have seen a beautiful sight because he passed away peacefully and did not struggle to remain here in this life on earth. John had a favorite song that he would always sing “When God Calls, John will Answer “ and that he did. Anyone that knew John knew that he loved his youngest sister; whom he affectionately called “Fatty Poo”; because he spoke of her continuously years after her passing. If we can just image John and sister (Deyoni Black who preceded him in death in 2010) smiling and hugging each other right now we can rest assuringly knowing that John is okay. John will never be forgotten and the memories of him will be cherished forever. Left to mourn hiss loss are: his loving devoted parents , mother, Margaret Black; father, John Black Sr ; and two nephews: Damaris Thompson and Andre Black, To cherish his memory, John also leaves five aunts , Mattie Price, Helen Smith, Cora Ford, Ardena Johnson, Lucy Haire; uncle Joseph Haire; three close friends, Calvin Rowlette, Paul Fitzgerald and Paula Phillips; godbrother , Gregory Maddox; godsisters ,Iyona Watts; family friend, Marvin Anderson; and a host of other relatives and friends.
