Joel Morris

JOEL MORRIS, son of Eugene Morris Sr. and Joan Morris, was born on August 18, 1975 in Baltimore, Maryland. In the stillness of the day, October 3, 2006, God smiled on Joel and said, "Come on home, My Child and rest a little while."Joel was educated in the Catholic Schools in Baltimore, Maryland. He attended St. Matthews Cardinal Shehan, Archbishop Curley High School and Villa Julie College. Joel graduated with honors with a degree in Computer Accounting. He was also listed in "Who's Who in America."Upon his graduation, Joel gained immediate employment with Systems Source, where he traveled extensively as a Software Engineer. He traveled the world over building networks and refining systems. He enjoyed his career and was a tireless worker always striving to reach the unreachable. But for all his academic and corporate excellence, Joel loved life and gave gifts from the heart. He left a lasting impression on everyone he met and was a friend to everyone. He enjoyed playing basketball, video games, gourmet cooking and hanging out at Towson Town Center. He also loved music and played the clarinet and drums.Joel was also a dedicated son. Whenever he was needed, he was there. He helped his mother with her outreach ministries and his father when he became ill. He was a good brother, uncle, nephew, godfather and friend. Joel was a selfless person, always showing compassion for others. He was just, real and kind, as gentle as a butterfly.Joel enjoyed the simplest things. He loved to walk and enjoy nature or read a book. He was a mild and gentle person. But he was also a soldier in God's army. He committed himself to the Lord at a very young age and his loving spirit has always shown through.Joel fought a good fight until the very end. He trusted and leaned on the words in II Timothy 4:7 - "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."Joel leaves to cherish his memory: a loving father, Eugene Morris Sr.; a devoted and loving mother, Rev. Joan Morris; a loving brother, Eugene Morris Jr.; a sister-in-law, Nicole Morris; a grandfather, James Williams (Pop); five aunts, Broadie Mae Blanding, Ella Austin, Madie Stewart, Marilyn Turner and Rev. Earleen Henderson; one uncle, Elmore Morris; one loving niece, Deyara Morris; an adopted brother, Alonzo Macer; one godmother, Pauline Finch; three godsisters, Leslie Wright, Jennell Ferguson, and Joleen Ferguson; four godchildren, Nikia, Candice, Zoe and Madison; great-aunts, great-uncles, and a host of other relatives and friends.
