Joe William Major

JOE WILLIAM MAJOR was born on August 30, 1959 in New York City, New York to Joseph Foster and Margaret Major. He attended school in New York City until they relocated to Virginia in 1973 and completed his education at Louisa County High School.In 1979, this New Yorker began a lifelong courtship with Jersey girl and wife to be Yvette. They united their eternal love on October 12, 1985 and out of this marital bliss they were blessed with three beautiful children, Syrita, Jasmine and Marcus.Joes’ love for computers led him to ECPI, from which he graduated and which led him to work in the computer field, for over 20 years with 17 of those years spent at Hewlett Packard. He was respected by his superiors for his dedication, trustworthiness, and competence, and he was embraced by his peers. Along the way he has touched so many people with his compassion to help others and high spirit outlook on life. Joe was an active prankster; he loved to make people laugh, tenderly playing practical jokes on his co-workers, friends, and loved ones.The compassion that Joe expressed stems from his fathers’ and mother’ unconditional love given to him throughout his life. His fathers’ demonstrated commitment to hard work and his mothers care-giving spirit in their family and community was passed to Joe and his sister Parthenia known as Peaches for over a quarter of a century. Joe, affectionately known as “Joe Joe,” had a kind and loving heart. He always showed pride, confidence and high spirit in anything he did. Joe’s efforts not only made for a better family but made his community a better community. Joe was always willing to help someone in need from answering computer questions to changing a tire for a stranger stranded on the highway, or just sitting down with the elderly to keep their spirits up. His children are following in his footsteps: Syrita, a licensed Barber volunteers to cut hair at homeless shelters, Jasmine started an Adopt-A –Grandparent program for residents at a local nursing home, and Marcus volunteers his time at nursing homes playing the piano at dinner time for the residents.Joe was preceded in death by his father Joseph Foster, brother Kenneth Carrol Major, and sister-in-law, Linda Dabney. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving and devoted wife, Yvette; mother, Margaret Major; children, Syrita, Jasmine and Marcus; sister, Parthenia Morris (Donald); two sisters-in-law, Evamirii Johnson (Calvin) and Evelyn Johnson; a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends; including his special friends, Greg Hodge, and Lewis Burton.
