Joe Louis Brannum

Joe Louis Brannum, Sr. was born on February 2, 1936, to Rosie Mae and James Brannum in Concord, North Carolina. He was educated in the Concord public schools. He later married Gladys Hill then relocated to Baltimore, Maryland. Joe maintained employment at Bethlehem Steel Corporation for forty-four years until his retirement in 2000. He was loved by all who knew him. He loved fishing, working on cars, fatherhood, traveling and making the lives of his family and close friends pleasant. He will forever be remembered as loving, meek, humble, generous, hard working, and patient. Joe is survived by: his beloved wife, Gladys Brannum; his mother, Rosie Mae Strickland; his seven children, Joe Louis Brannum, Jr., Jerry House, Darlene Brannum-Carter, Patricia Ann Brannum, Kenneth Ray Brannum, Richard Gerard Brannum and Shawn Walter Brannum; his brothers, Paul Brown of Palmer Park, MD., Walter Strickland of Hampton, VA. and Claude Strickland of Atlanta, GA.; his sisters, Bertha Brown of New York and Liz Rogers of North Carolina; his grandchildren, Gary Louis Carter, Natasha Renee Brannum, Amber Shayla Clark, Regina Jasmin Brannum, Kenneth Ray Brannum, Jr., Abdul Hakeem Brannum, Malik Rashid Brannum, Jasmin Monique Clark and Kimp Grant; daughters-in-law, Gwendolyn Grant-Brannum of Baltimore, MD., Natasha Carter-Brannum of Baltimore, MD.; son-in-law. Larry “Bo” Carter of Richmond, VA.; brother-in law, Allen Hill, Jr., of Baltimore, MD.; sisters–in-law, Mae Ruth Hill of North Carolina and Cheryl Strickland of Hampton, VA.; close nephews, Tiger, Andre, Toni, Bryant, Victor, Michael, Tyrone and Jamal; close nieces, Debbie Jean, Angie, Valerie, Jackie, Sheri, Yvette and Colette; special people, Charles Harris, Barbara Smith, Pam Teel, Verona “Peaches” Jefferies, Wanda Diggins, Flora Phifer, Cincinnati; and a host of other relatives and friends.DedicatedToJoe Louis Brannum, Sr.Thank the good lord Jehovah God for blessing me with Joe Louise Brannum, Sr. He left me with wonderful memories and beautiful children.
