Jestin Hayes

JESTIN HAYES, best known as "Tom" was born April 29,1932 in Marietta, NC. Jestin was born to the late Jack Hayes and Odessa Dixon. On January 8,2015, God felt it was best that he call his angel home so that he could lead his family from the spiritual and not the physical; this would transpire from an unexpected illness. Tom received his education in Marietta,NC., where he was a life long member at Turner Station Baptist Church. After a life in North Carolina, he then moved to Baltimore where he met and married the late Doris Spriggs. From this union they were blessed with 3 beautiful children. He would then marry Helen Hayes and in their abundance of love, God's reward to them would be represented by 8 children. If a hard worker was a man that you knew, that defined Jestin "Tom" Hayes. Employed as a truck driver, parking attendant, associate of Marsh's Ham and a Rosecroft Track attendant, Tom knew that there was always a job to be done and that it is a trait that shall live on forever. If there was anything that Tom knew would bring his family together, it would be him working his magic around the grill. Tom loved to cook and i think it's fair to say by all that his ribs were his specialty. What made this man even more valuable was his illuminating smile, his paralyzing laugh and his unforgettable jokes. And you never seen dance moves until Tom hit the floor..... get 'em pops. As life goes on and hearts tend to beat to the same rhythm his wings levitated him to a lifelong companion of over 40 years, Carolyn Thorton. In this journey may his spirit reach out to his 2 son-in-laws, William and Stephen, and stepdaughter, Belinda. He leaves to cherish: Atoinette Shuey, Justin Hayes, Dessie Murray, Tonya White(Gerald), Lynette Adams (John), Jestin Mcbeth, Marlon Hayes, Laquarta Pollard, Nelson Hayes, Chapell Hayes (Charles). 34 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren,3 stepchildren, Michelle, Celestine, and Joseph.. Three loving sisters, Joyce Bullock, Linda Mcduffie, and Elizabeth Caldwell. One brother William Hayes and a host of family and friends.
