Ms. Jervene Brown

God is our refuge and strength, very present help in trouble. – Psalm 46:1 JERVENE LEMON BROWN, was born on April 23, 1946 in Summerton, South Carolina to her loving parents; the late Deacon James and Deaconess Lula McKnight Lemon. Jervene was the tenth of twelve children; brother, James Lemon, Jr. preceded her in death. She quickly and peacefully departed this life on March 21, 2011 at 12:47 p.m. with her family members by her side at Saint Agnes Hospital, Baltimore, Maryland after a brief illness. Being reared in Christian home, Jervene at an early age accepted the Lord Jesus Christ to be her Savior and jointed the Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized under the leadership of the late Reverend Gussie Pearson. Jervene was educated in the Clarendon County, South Carolina Public School System where she graduated from the Scott’s Branch High School in 1964. she moved to Baltimore, Maryland and later jointed the Whitestone Baptist Church where she attended Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She continued her education through various training programs in the nursing field. Jervene was employed at Saint Agnes Hospital, Union Memorial Hospital and Sinai Hospital. On January 4, 1969, Jervene was jointed in holy matrimony to James Brown, whom she called “my Jim” and from this union two children were born; a daughter, Jennifer Brown; a son, Jarius Albert Brown who preceded her in death. She was a loving person and a devoted wife and mother who loved her family. Jervene loved cooking, gardening, sewing, knitting, singing, and most of all spending time with her family. Oh how she loved laughing and making others laugh. Jervene was a former member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness. Jervene leaves to cherish her memory: a loving husband, James Brown; daughter, Jennifer Brown; four brothers, John (Dorothy) Lemon, Warren (Essie) Lemon, Pastor Milton (Savada) Lemon and Benjamin (Francina) Lemon, all of Baltimore, Maryland; six sisters, Annie P. Green, Ida Mae (Simen) Pearson, Mary Lou (Frank) Holiday and Susie V. King all of Baltimore, Maryland, Josephine (Madison) Fludd and Louise (Ransom) Baxter of Columbia, South Carolina. She is loved and remembered by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. II Timothy 4:7
