On Sunday September 30, 2007 the Lord called home His beloved angel JEROME JOSEPH PRATT. Jerome was the third child born to the late Joseph Amos Pratt and Bertha Helen (Dotson) Pratt. From that union Constance, Robert, Jerome, Charles and Vernon were born.Jerome was born October 21, 1949. Jerome loved life and its challenges, loved to talk and was always full of fun. He took things seriously and was full of wisdom. He was forever seeking new challenges and ideas.He was educated in the Baltimore City Public Schools and graduated proudly from Douglass Senior High School. After graduation, he chose many paths, but it would be the road to the military that made the difference. He joined the United States Army, and served his country well, then received an Honorable Discharge in 1970.He served actively, enjoying his tour of duty here and abroad, serving his country. After his discharge, he went right into the Maryland National Guard and continued to serve his country. In 2006 he received the Army Achievement Medal for dedicated service. After twenty years, Jerome retired from the military.During this time, in 1975, he began working at the Social Security Administration and continued to work there until his untimely passing, as Transportation Supervisor. He was loved by all who came in contact with him. He loved his work, and spent many, many long hours there seeing that things were done just right.On February l8, 1978, he married Thomasine Lane and from this union, they had one child, Kenneth Jerome Pratt. This union has lasted a loving twenty-nine years. They enjoyed their marriage and were practically inseparable. They enjoyed family gatherings and celebrations, traveling and just having funJerome enjoyed traveling, he liked to read, enjoyed telling stories, and especially writing poetry. But most of all, he enjoyed and it was his passion to Jerome believed in God, and when he was terminally ill, he had many, many conversations with Him. He had the strength and the will to pull himself through with the help of God. He came to terms with his illness, and became even stronger in his faith, and spoke the words of his Savior, for he had been saved.If you were fortunate to have e-mail, then you know because you got some kind of spiritual message from him. Jerome was an inspiration. When God came to take him home, He knew that Jerome’s spirit and love had touched the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.Jerome leaves to mourn: his loving wife, Thomasine; son, Kenneth; sister, Constance (Connie) Pratt Young; brothers, Robert (Bobby) Pratt and wife Marlene Pratt, Charles (Charlie Brown) Pratt and wife Dinell Pratt, Vernon Pratt and wife Elnora Pratt; devoted sister-in-law, Myrna Jones; nephews, Maurice Young and Jerome Young, Charles Pratt, Jr., Darrell Summerville, and Lawrence Summerville; nieces, Darlene Summerville, Michelle Pratt Mellon, and Angela Pratt; a very special uncle, Roger Hawkins; nieces, Rosalind Butler, Montrae Lee; nephew, Troy Cunningham; an endless host of great-nephews and -nieces, great-great-nephews and -nieces, cousins, family and friends, including his extended families at Social Security Administration as well as his military family
