Jennifer LaRuth Wallace

JENNIFER LaRUTH WALLACE, the beloved daughter of Doris E. Matthews and the late Lewis Matthews, Sr., was born on August 23, 1946 in Catonsville, Maryland. Jennifer departed this life after a long illness on August 10, 2006. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers; Jackie and Steven Matthews.Jennifer received her education in the Baltimore public school system, graduating from Catonsville Senior High School. She continued her studies in Business at Catonsville Community College. Jennifer was employed with SSA Baltimore Federal Credit Union for 29 years and received numerous awards and commendations. Jennifer loved her job and never missed a day in all her years working there.Jennifer was introduced to Christ as a member of The Morning Star Baptist Church in Catonsville, Maryland as a young child, and it was there that she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She went on to become a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkridge where she served on the usher board and took part in many church activities. Jennifer then transferred her membership to Celebration Church where she remained a faithful member until she was called home.She married Clifton H. Murphy Jr. on March 06, 1965 and out of this union two children were born, Clifton H. Murphy III and Jennifer M. Glenn. Later, Jennifer remarried on June 19, 1998, to Fred Wallace. Fred remained a loving and caring husband throughout their time together. He took good care of her during the good times and extra good care during her long illness. They were devoted to each other, and the respected love that they had for each other always showed through their eyes.Jennifer was a very private person, she loved to crochet, bake and send cards to loved ones to let them know they were always in her thoughts and prayers. Jennifer loved all of her grandchildren. She enjoyed having them over to spend the night, taking them out to dinner, shopping, going to the movies, reading, and traveling with them. Jennifer’s grandchildren brought her complete joy and happiness.Jennifer’s memory will be kept alive by her husband, Fred Wallace; her mother, Doris E. Matthews; two children, Clifton H. Murphy, III and Jennifer M. Glenn; two stepchildren, Tunisha Temple and Fred Wallace, Jr.; one brother, Lewis Matthews Jr.; four sisters, Cavelia Duvall, Erlina Snead, Heidi DeVane, and Martinus Levere; daughter-in-law, Monica Murphy; two sons-in-law, Warren Glenn and Brian Temple; six grandchildren, Jewel, Jade, Courtney, Taylor, Briahna, and Joshua; godmother, Virginia Rice; nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
