Jeffrey Earl Gordon

JEFFREY EARL GORDON departed this life on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 after coping with challenging illness. Jeffrey the son of the late Shirley Gordon and Henry Baker, was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 24, 1968. He was the “apple of his mother’s eye”. Shirley made sure that Jeffrey had the best of everything. Family would often tease her about excessive outpouring of love for her baby boy. In March of 1972, God called Shirley home and at the age of three Jeffrey was further reared by his late grandparents, Virginia and Frank Thomas, Sr. along with his aunt, Phyllis Reese. With a rich and fulfilling childhood, Jeffrey attended public and parochial schools, while attending All Saints Middle School, Jeffrey was an outstanding basketball player. He later graduated from Cardinal Gibbons High School in 1985. As a child and into adulthood, Jeffrey enjoyed vacationing, attending family outings and special events with his cousins, Traci, Timmy and Chris. Even after Jeffrey’s debilitating stroke in 2008, he had the fortitude to travel to fun places such as Cancun, Florida and Las Vegas with his friend Deonne Medley. In May, 2010, Jeffrey traveled with his Aunt Phyllis to Cambridge, Massachusetts to witness his Cousin Traci graduate from Harvard University. What everyone knew about Jeffrey were his dreams and determination to become a Computer Engineer and to and to own his own business. His Uncle Frankie encouraged him to pursue the Computer Technology field. He attended Baltimore City and Catonsville Community Colleges, along with Towson University to continually receive advanced Microsoft Certifications. As a successful Certified Microsoft Engineer, Jeff was employed at prestigious companies such as Computer Science Corporation, the Government of the District of Columbia, Voxiva Inc., Technology Solutions. Having achieved his first dream, Jeffrey was now ready to pursue his second dream of owning his own business. His mentor and father-like friend, Mr. Little coached him on how to own and manage a business. In May, 2001 Gordon’s Lounge became a reality for Jeffrey. Gordon’s was an upscale weekend happening that catered to upscale young professionals. The lounge which was beautifully decorated was a fun place to meet and greet professionals. Again he accomplished another goal. Jeffrey was always engaged in conversation as the expert on any topic that centered on money and relationships. Family and friends enjoyed receiving Jeff’s advice diced with lots of humor. Even as Jeffery’s physical challenges increased, he remained spiritual and faith-filled with anticipation of a kidney transplant thanks to his brother, Ivan Baker. This past Christmas, Jeffery enjoyed shopping for his son, Tyler, whose personality and physical appearance are identical to his father’s traits. It was a joy to watch the “twins” play with Tyler’s toys. As a loving and an extraordinary family member, friend and business man, Jeffery will be affectionately and long remembered. Jeffery Earl Gordon is survived by: his loving son, Tyler Gadsden; his devoted aunt, Phyllis Reese; his great-aunt, Rudy Selby; his sibling-like cousins, Traci Thomas and Timothy Shelton, Jr. (his cousin, Christopher Shelton, Preceded him in passing), Krystal Thomas and Todd Thomas; brothers and sisters, Henry, Jr., Dean, Darrell, Ivan, Amy and Karis Baker; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
