Jeff McCray

Jeff McCray was born to the late Sullie Lee and George McCray on March 11, 1931 in Williamsburg County, South Carolina. Exodus 30:14 Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD. Jeff joined Cedar Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of the Rev. Herbon Gibon. He went on to join Christian Memorial Church in Baltimore, Maryland. Genesis 2:24 Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. It was here at Cedar Grove that he was united to Renna in holy matrimony. Jeff and Renna McCray union bore three children Mary, Richard and Eartha. They stayed united as one under God until her passing in 2010. Psalm 90:17 May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us-- yes, establish the work of our hands. After relocating to the north, Jeff established long-time employment with R.H. Shook Drywall Contractors in 1956. He retired after thirty-six years of dedicated labor. Psalm 128:5-6 May the LORD continually bless you from Zion. May you see Jerusalem prosper as long as you live. May you live to enjoy your grandchildren. Granddaddy… the name that he enjoyed hearing and always brought a smile to his face. He looked forward to seeing, conversing and spending time with his grandchildren and he even brightened up more when the GREAT grandchildren would come by to laugh with him. Genesis 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. God chose November 26, 2017 to be Jeff’s seventh day. The angel of death showed up at 7545 East Howard and swept away the sweet spirit of Jeff McCray. His spirit was taken to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, pain, and death. Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Oh, how sweet the reunion must have been when Jeff and Renna reunited! Romans 12:9 Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Holding fast is Jeff’s two daughters, Mary Ford and Eartha (Edward) Pierce; two brothers, Olin and Joseph McCray; two sisters-in-law, Leolla Washington and Louann McCray; brother-in-law, Tisdale Payton; seven grandchildren, Rita, Nicole (William), Damien (Christina), Marvin (Ashley), Lydell, Steven, and Sterling; twenty great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his son Richard McCray, sisters Beatrice, Sarah and Josephine, and brother George. II Corinthians 13:11-12 Finally, brothers, rejoice. Aim for restoration, comfort one another, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
