Jeannette A. St. John

Legacy of Life Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Ms. Jeannette St. John, age 74 of Richmond, Virginia, went to be with her Lord on January 31, 2023. She was born on July 15, 1948, with her twin sister, Joyce to parents Janie Buie and Charlie St. John. She called Richmond, VA home all her life. Jeannette graduated from Maggie L. Walker High School in 1966. She was a member of the band where she played the clarinet, a talent she passed down to her daughter and granddaughter, Charelle. After high school, she went on to receive her nursing degree from J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College. Jeannette gave birth to her biggest blessing, her daughter Lisa in 1969. Jeannette was a caring and giving woman. If she had it, you had it. She utilized her caring spirit in her profession as a nurse where she dedicated 40+ years at the McGuire Veterans Hospital. She retired in December 2012 and dedicated her life to spending time with her family. She played an active role in her family lives, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. You’d never have a conversation with her without her mentioning HER babies. Some of her greatest joys came from her family. She enjoyed traveling with them to Florida and Texas. She also loved watching football and tennis with them, even if they asked her a million questions during the matches. Jeannette also enjoyed teaching her babies how to play Sudoku and Find the Hidden object games. She is preceded in death by her parents, Janie Buie and Charlie St. John; her twin sister, Joyce St. John; aunt and uncle, Frances and Arthur St. John, and a niece, Tracy Brooks. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Spriggins (Troy); 5 grandchildren; Charenee Winston (Bruce), Charelle Spriggins (Harren), Kanisha Thomas (LeCraig), Keone Winston, and Terrance Spriggins (Liliana); 13 great-grandchildren; her sister, Beverly Brooks (Robert); 3 godsons, Travis Adams, Corey Mapp, and Hugo Torres; devoted friends, Raymond Dark Sr. and Virginia Brogdon (Leon) and Coretta Shelton, who was like a daughter to her; a nephew, Brian Brooks and a host of other relatives and friends.
