Jean R. Wright

The sounding of the celestial trumpets of our Heavenly Father called his daughter, Jean Renee Wright, home to peaceful rest on Friday, April 29, 2016; surrounded by her loving family at Howard County General Hospital. Jean Renee Wright, affectionately known as Jeanie, Aunt Jeanie, Grannie and JeanBean to her family and close friends, was born Jean Renee Henson on August 12, 1953 to Yvonne D. Henson and Wesley B. Henson Sr. in Baltimore, MD. Jeanie graduated from Edmondson High School (1971) and while there she met the love of her life Gregory D. Wright (a.k.a. Hazim Talib Abdulghaffar); they soon began dating, and not long afterwards got engaged, and gave birth to their first daughter Stacie Renee Wright. While attending Coppin State (now Coppin State University), Jean and Gregory D. Wright were married in 1974 and several years later gave birth to a second daughter Ebonie Dionne Wright. It would be sixteen years before they would give birth to their third daughter Shakirah Fatima Abdulghaffar. Gregory D. Wright (a.k.a. Hazim Talib Abdulghaffar) preceded Jeanie in death on July 13, 2000. At a very young age, Jeanie developed a passion for education. She displayed that passion as a substitute teacher at her alma mater Edmondson High School for several years. Jeanie was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend. Jeanie's family was her life. She devoted every moment of her days to doing something to help a family member. There was no task too big or small that Jeanie wouldn't do for her family. She absolutely adored her three girls and had no problem letting the world know it. Her girls were the center of her life until she was blessed with her three grandsons. Her three boys meant the world to her. She did not consider them as her grandsons they were the sons she never had. She would go to the moon and back for each one of them. Her entire family could call at any time and she would be there. She was strong, loving, caring and most of all she was selfless. She put her family before herself a thousnad times. Jeanie leaves to cherish her memory: three daughters, Stacie R. Ringgold, Ebonie D. Wright and Shakirah F. Abdulghaffar; three grandsons, Vincent G. Ringgold, Jamal M. Ringgold, and Nevone C. McCrimmon; one great-grandson, Jamal M. Ringgold Jr.; her mother, Yvonne D. Henson; her father, Wesley B. Henson Sr.; two sisters, Jacqueline D. Walker and Michelle L. McPhail; two brothers, Wesley B. Henson Jr. and Michael J. Henson; one son-in-law, Tamber R. Wright; favorite aunt, Brenda Brown; eleven nieces, Shantay, Tiffany, Terrell, Bianca, Crystal, Chasity, Chloe, Christina, Melissa, Cache and Joy; three nephews, Keith, Brandon and Jared; and a host of other relatives and friends. Jeanie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruth Matthews, brother-in-law, Rennard Walker and nephews, Tracy Wright.
