Jaramillo E. Jordan

On Monday, March 14, 2016, God reached into his family and claimed His handiwork, Jaramillo Eugene Jordon. “Gene,” as he was known by relatives and friends was born on August 11, 1934 in Catonsville, Maryland to Haramilla and Mildred Jordon. At an early age, the family moved to Madison Avenue in Baltimore City. Gene was the fifth of eight children. He was educated in Baltimore City Public Schools and attended Morgan State University and the University of Maryland, College Park. Gene’s early work experience included employment as a printer at the Afro-American Newspaper and Poland Brothers Printing. At Poland Brothers, he rose to the position of supervisor. Later, he used his talents as a teacher in the Baltimore City Public School system. During his tenure, he taught at Dunbar and Mergenthaler High Schools until his retirement. In 1955, he married Beulah Teresa Hackett. From this union, three sons were born: Anthony, Vincent and Jerry Wendell. Gene was a devoted father, friend, brother, and grandfather. His family was the center of his life. Gene was witty, determined, strong-willed and knowledgeable about everything. Moreover, he was a very wise man. His style was quiet and understated. He was a good listener and a remarkable problem solver. He would use his analytical skills to think through challenges. Everything he did was done correctly and perfectly. Gene was also a caring person. He was happy to share time with others. Gene felt extremely happy after family members visited him. He was very fond of children and the accomplishments of his family. Gene’s favorite song was Frank Sinatra’s “My Way.” He liked this song because it expressed his mantra and this is how he lived his life. “He lived the life he loved and he loved the life he lived.” Gene remains in the hearts and thoughts of many. Those left to celebrate his life and mourn his passing include his sons, Anthony J. Jordon, Gene Vincent Jordon, grandson, Nicholas Jordon, granddaughter Jessica Jordon, sister, Catherine J. Thomas, daughter-in-law, Brooke E. Jordon, nephews, nieces, grand nephews, grand nieces, cousins and friends.
