Janet Hill

God will send His angels, but He must also call them home. After an eleven-year battle with kidney disease, Janet Victoria Hill, beloved wife, loving mother, dedicated grandmother, and faithful friend, left her earthly home and returned to her Father’s heavenly home on June 19, 2003 at age 54.Vickie, as her close family and friends knew her, was sent to earth on October 29, 1948. She was born to the late Lucile T. Frazier and William Taylor. After her mother’s marriage, Vickie’s family circle grew as she welcomed her new stepfather, the late Charles Daniel Frazier. She was loved and respected by many but no more so than her husband of 33 years, Jimmie Hill. They were friends for many years before marriage. They united their souls and committed their hearts on January 7, 1970. Their lives were blessed with three daughters and their one and only son. Vickie had unconditional love for all of her children. She always showered them with love and attention. She particularly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and was very involved in their lives.Vickie was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System. She entered the workforce at Silber’s Bakery, where she met Jimmie. She later became a clerk at Fort Holabird and continued her administrative career at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn, Maryland. Committed to spending more time with her children, she resigned her position at SSA and accepted the enormous responsibility of managing the before and after school program at Rosa Parks Catholic School on Park Heights Avenue, where her children were enrolled. While continuing her education, she worked as a part-time Manager at the Exxon Station on Reisterstown Road. Vickie enjoyed her role there because it afforded her a flexible schedule as well ass the opportunity to meet many new people - and meet people she did. She had many loyal patrons because of her smiling face and giving spirit. They looked forward to seeing Ms. Janet! Vickie was very outgoing and made friends wherever she went. She retired from the workforce after serving as a Private Duty Home Health Aide for several years.She loved attending cookouts and other events with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking, bus trips, and shopping. She especially enjoyed attending New Psalmist Baptist Church with Jimmie, where they became members after being inspired by the Word more than 18 years ago. There was nothing she would not do or sacrifice for her family and friends. She always made herself available in their times of need. She touched the lives of many with her pleasant personality, sense of humor, and caring spirit. If you knew her you know that she is a rare gem and you will never find her equal.Vickie now watches over from on high: her devoted husband and best friends, Jimmie Hill; three daughters, Velacia Young, Joie Hill-Rogers and Sequinta Watts; only son Marshall “Wood” Hill; nine grandchilren, Jenene Brown, Justin Young, Jada Rogers, Joel Hill, Jamia Young, Damon Johnson, Adrianna Hill, Juwan Hill and Tessai Watts; great-grandchild Justice Mears; two aunts, Mae D. Daniels and Margaret Howard; mother-in-law Helen Fairfax; sons-in-law, Rodney Young, Patrick Rogers and Synjji Watts; goddaughters, Mashawn Smith and Ashley Banks; and two friends that were like daughters, Shontell Berryman and Latrice Wagstaff.
