When tomorrow starts without me,please try to understand,that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand. On Saturday,March 21,2015,at MCV/VCU Medical Center,the angels softly whispered,come Janet,come get some much needed rest. In gratitude,we celebrate the life of a daughter,sister,aunt,niece,cousin and friend Janet Marie Dumas. Janet M. Dumas,age 55 was born on January 23,1960,in Richmond,Virginia,to Mary Helen and the late Parnell Dumas. She was baptized at an early age at Shiloh Baptist Church,Richmond,Virginia She received her formal education from Maggie L, Walker High School,Richmond,Virginia. Janet was employed at the Department of Taxation for 23 years. Janet leaves to cherish her precious memories,her mother,Mary Helen Dumas.,four sisters,Deloise D. Jones,Beverly,Eva”Net” and Caron”Nita” Dumas,Richmond,Virginia;four brothers,Cecil and Timothy Dumas,Richmond,Virginia;Calvin(Lenise)Dumas,Houston,Texas;Jerry Dumas,Atlanta,Georgia;and a half -brother,Bill Bradley,Mount Gilead,North Carolina. Nine nieces and nephews,Freddie L. Jones,Jr,Ruth Jones,Carlton L. Jones(Jarmel),Tameisha Criss,Jamell,Michelle,Cecil Dee,Chanel and Shelby Dumas. Nine Great Nephews and Nieces;Nicholas and Ashleigh Carter,Diamond Gaskins,Carlton Jones,II,Freddie Jones,III,Caleb Billy,Amaya,Tamiya and Mason Dumas. A host of other relatives and friends,among them were her devoted friends Ronnie Bogans and family,Delores Anderson and family,and Clarence and Elaine Robinson. Special thanks to Janet Bagby,her friends at the Department of Taxation,and the Doctors and Nurses of MCV/VCU Medical Center. Janet had a beautiful smile,and was a sensitive and caring person. She was a fun loving person that would do anything for you. She touched the lives of all she met. Janet loved to dress and coordinate her clothes,especially her earrings. She loved her job at the Department of Taxation and hardly ever missed days from work. She enjoyed planning parties especially theme based ones, such as an Inauguration Party for President Obama's first election,Texas Holdem, and a Birthday Party for her brother Calvin. Her Birthday Party themes were Card Parties and Hawaiian to name a few. Her 54th Birthday Celebration Theme was Jeans and Jerseys. Janet celebrated with a party every year. People said that she was the life of the party because she shared a drink or two. Janet loved to dance and could drop it like it was hot. She would never let you forget that she was the baby,her birthday(January 23) and that she was JD 123. Janet could murder a hit,and didn't know the words to any songs. Janet loved life and was always looking for a reason to celebrate. Janet loved cooking,and raising money for charities. She loved to travel to family functiond and made sure everyone had plenty of refreshments. She enjoyed eating her crabs. Janet also enjoyed cooking specialty dishes for Sunday dinners from recipes she got from cooking channels. One of her last dishes she tried was pig feet soup.
