Mr. Jamie N. Phillips

Jamie Norris Phillips, son of Elbert and the late Dorothy Mae Phillips, was born on September 21, 1959 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the second youngest of six children. After a short illness, he departed this life on February 25, 2013. Jamie was a devoted husband and father. He married the love of his life, Valerie Ferguson on June 21, 1998. Their’s was a very loving and special relationship. Valerie nurtured and cared for Jamie throughout his illness, lovingly making sure all his needs were met. Jamie was a student of the Baltimore City Public School System, graduating with a degree in Heating and Air Conditioning from Carver Vocational-Technical High School. Immediately after graduation, Jamie entered the Baltimore City Police Academy. After completing his training, Jamie proudly served as a Baltimore City Police Officer for twenty-nine years until his retirement from the Police Department in 2007. Motorcycling, listening to and singing “oldies but goodies”, having family over for crab feasts, and football parties were things Jamie loved to do. His hobbies included telling his hilarious, side-splitting jokes, writing poetry, and raising critters (of the reptilian kind). But most of all, Jamie treasured the times spent with his son, “Little Jamie”. They loved watching movies, joking with each other, vacationing, and playing video games together. They were inseparable. He leaves to mourn his passing: his devoted wife, Valerie; one son from their union, Jamie N. Phillips II; sons, Sean A. Phillips and Stacey B. Phillips; one daughter, Kierston J. Phillips; one stepson, Jamell L. Gaines; one daughter-in-law, Cynitha Phillips; two grandsons, Kylin K. Phillips and Jaylin D. Phillips; father, Elbert Phillips; three sisters, Veronica C. Brewington (Michael), Nina L. Bryant (Paul) and Denise Anthony (Roosevelt); two brothers, Tony R Phillips and El’LaVento Phillips (Kelly); mother-in-law, Florence Ferguson; two sisters-in-law, Wilda Mosley (Elliot) and Garnitha Ferguson; three brothers-in-law, Wallace Ferguson, Anthony Ferguson (Jacqueline) and Curtis Ferguson (Senora); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Mae Phillips.
