Jamia Don'Yae Cannady

On the morning of Thursday, October 16, 2025, God sent an Angel to carry Jamia home. A whisper in her ear some souls are too beautiful for this world to bear. A crown was placed above her head, up to the pearly gates she was lead. JAMIA DON’YAE CANNADY, affectionately known as “Mean,” was born on September 7, 2005, to Crystal Barnett and the late Jamal Cannady Sr. in Baltimore City where she attended Eutaw Marshburn Elementary, followed by City Springs Elementary/Middle School, later Paul Laurence Dunbar High School, where she graduated on June 12, 2023, and went off to college at Virginia State University, where she studied to be a Pediatrician. Jamia started her first job at Chick-Fil-A on a workers permit working fifteen hours a week. She then went to work for Johns Hopkins for dietary, after which she went to Amazon. Next, she went to school for CNA/GNA where she graduated on May 5, 2024; finally, she went back to Johns Hopkins on Myer 5 as a Floor Tech. Jamia was a kind, loving, soft spoken person. She was very selfless. She was just a joy to be around. To know her was simply to love her. She was very respectful, had morals and lots self-respect. She loved being with her family and friends, she loved loved to dance and sing and later down the line rap (Trap Music). She also loved singing duets with her mom, brother and family. Jamia loved her son (her dog) Milo Cannady. A King is what she called him. She was always happy, her smile truly lit up the room. From the time she could put her own shirt on she was very fashionable and didn’t play about her hair, nails, and lashes, etc. A true queen is what she was “Clock It”. She loved driving in her car rapping or singing to the top of her lungs. She loved playing Uno, Trouble, etc. From a little girl, she loved winning. It’s clearly too much to sum her up. But for now, she loved her TikTok and “clocking that tea.” As we look back on a life well spent, in many ways there are those whom the vision will be more vivid than can be imagined. Jamia leaves to cherish her memory: her loving and devoted mother, Crystal Barnett; devoted brother, Jamal Cannady Jr.; son, The King (her dog Milo Cannady); uncles, Michael Bentley and Ellis Barnett; aunts, Latoya Maple, Tiffany Maple, Angel Bentley, Shiray Barnett and Donesha Barnett; and two cousins who were more like brothers, Khalil Harris and Damien Simms.
