James Young, Sr.

JAMES YOUNG SR., son of Coleman and Drucilla Young,was born on March 19, 1928 in Blair County. Bro. Young was called home Friday, May 29, 2015 after a long battle with cancer. Bro . Young received his education in South Carolina. After moving to North Carolina working, he met and married his wife, Mary V. Young with whom he shared a union-June 16, 2015 would have made 64 years of marriage. In 1952, they moved to Baltimore, MD., where he found work as a machine operator for the Baltimore Gas and Electric Company from which he retired. Bro. Young joined the First Emmanuel Baptist Church in February 1975 under the leadership of Rev. James S. Wise. Over the last 40 years, Bro. Young was a dedicated and active member of the church. Bro. Young served as a Senior Usher, a Trustee, and he was an active member of the Vocal Choir, and served as the Sr. Vice President of Junior Ushers. Everyone always knew if you needed Bro., Young, he'd always be there. Bro. Young leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife, Mary V. Young; four children Clarke L., Young, Brenda Young Caldwell of Concord N.C., Deborah Tate and James Young, Jr., six grandsons, Kevin Young Sr. (Shelly), Karl Young (Toni), Kelly Young, Michael Young, Pastor Curtis Mobuary (Pamela) and James Young III; one special granddaughter, who was the "Apple of his eye" and who held his hand as he passed, Tiffany Bibbens-Burrell; nine great grandchildren, including Little Miss Tiffany Nichole "The light of his life" and two great-great grandhildren; two brothers, Jesse Young (Diane) of Greensboro, N.C. and Eddie P. Young (Rose) of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Lillie Mae Coleman of Charlotte, SC and Jamie C. Tobias of Chester, S.C.,four special sisters-in- law; Francis Young, Lillian Young, Willie Ree Young and Geneva Spivey (Alvin); and a host of nieces, nephews, couns, other relatives and friends. Preceding him in death: two children, Thomas Young and his baby girl Drucella "Cookie" Bibbens, seven brothers and four sisters, Willie Young, Clarence Davis, A. F. Davis, Marion Young, Coleman Young Jr., Robert Young, J. Wylie Young, Violia Smith, Julia Francis Griffin, Sarah Bell Young and Mary Lee Coleman.
