James Timothy Williams

James Timothy Williams was born on October 10, 1959 to the late Carrie Banks and Roosevelt Wilson in New York, New York. He was raised in Brooklyn with his five siblings. Growing up, he was very protective of his younger siblings. As a youngster, he was very popular and well known throughout his neighborhood. He was educated in the New York City school system and graduated from Canarsie High School in 1978. After high school, he worked at a furniture company, B.L. Wayne, for several years and was eventually promoted to foreman. In 1987, he married Sabina Jones-Bell. From this union, they were blessed with his two daughters, Quincy and Karina. In 1989, James relocated his family to Richmond, Virginia where he pursued a career in landscaping. Once again with hard work, dedication, and initiative, James rose to the top where he became the supervisor of the grounds at GSC. Later, he ventured into the restaurant industry, which then became his passion. Over the next few decades, he worked as a managing chef at IHOP, Home Team Grill, Tripps, and O'Charley's, just to name a few. James was very dedicated to working and providing for his family. In 2001, he was blessed with another daughter, Jada from his second marriage. On August 31, 2014, he married Oppielee Selene Washington. From this union, they were blessed with three children, Jordyn, Josette, and Jacara. Together, they raised all four of their young daughters in the Richmond area. Oppielee continuously encouraged James to attend Rising Liberty church. She was an instrumental part of him later joining and becoming an active member. He dedicated his life to Jesus and was baptized in September 2016. He was devoted to reading scriptures and participating in weekly bible study sessions. On March 11, 2018, James went home to be with the Lord, after battling bone marrow cancer for several years. He is survived by his Children: Quintana (Willie) Hines, Karina, Jada, Jordyn, Josette, and Jacara; Grandchildren: Briana, Miyah, Willie, and Cameron; Siblings: Belinda, Tracy, Diane, and Dwayne Banks; Nieces: Jasmine, Eva, Najah, Susan, Liana, Tiara, and Layla; Nephews: Dontae, Andrew, Chris, Johnathan, Jeremy, Justin, and Cameron; Best Friends, Sabina Bell and Derek Wright, and a host of brother and sister in laws, relatives and friends.One son and one daughter preceded him in death, James Williams Jr, and Tia Williams.
