James Walter Robinson Jr

James Walter Robinson, Jr. was born on October 16, 1935 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late James and Beulah Robinson. He departed this life on May 24, 2025. James was affectionately known as “Jimmie.” James was raised by his paternal grandmother, Sallie Robinson along with his three younger brothers, Donald, Edward and John whom all preceded him in death. He received his education from Baltimore City Public Schools. James enlisted in the Marine Corp in 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957 as a Sergeant. On October 19, 1957 he married Lillie M. Boykin and from this union two children were born, Ronald Sr. and Jeannette. James loved his family, especially his wife of 68 years. James was employed by the federal government from 1968 and retired in 2008 as a Supervisor of Maintenance Engineer. James was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Dr. James Fuller and the current Pastor, Rev. Anthony Bell. While under the leadership of both Pastors, James served as a Male Usher, sang on the Male Chorus and Mass Choir, member of Sunrise Prayer Warriors, Sunday School and Bible Study. For approximately 20 years, James was the president of the Men’s Ministry. James loved young people in the church and he was a mentor to many. Because of his love for his church family, he was affectionately known as Pop to some and Pop-Pop to others. James was also a devoted member to the Northwood Baseball League. While volunteering at Northwood, James wore many hats, such as, coach, mentor, and President of the league where he was voted Man of the Year. Also while volunteering for the league, James developed a bond with two members who were like brothers to him, Willie Nichols and Lewis Blackwell. James also had one man in church whom he had a brother relationship with Deacon William James. James loved his entire family and he was very dedicated to them all. James leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife of 68 years, Lillie; one son, Ronald S. Robinson Sr.; daughter, Jeannette; devoted nephew/ son, Deacon Tony (Mardina) Boykin; three grandchildren, Ronald Jr. (Jeanne), Marqus (Felecia) and Kimberlee Dixon (Maxwell); four great-grandchildren, Eli, Xavier, Jackson and Mykah; four additional grandchildren, Miracle Banks, Brandon Numa, Travis Robinson and MaKayla Stewart; two sisters-in-law, Sallie Barnes and Addie Anthony; brother-in-law, Raymond Barnes (brother-in-law Robert Anthony preceded him in death); godsister, Saddie Custus; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
