Mr. James Thomas Queen

Born January 20, 1937 in the Fairfield area of Baltimore, Maryland, James Thomas Queen was the son of John F. Queen and Gladys (Partlow) Middleton. James was raised in a loving family by Gladys and Lawrence Middleton. He was well known through his nicknames of “Baby Doll” and “Queenie”. James attended school in Baltimore. He later joined the Military, as a member of the United States Marine Corps. Afterwards, James worked for and retired from National Gypsum Company. Remaining active he took on a role with Baltimore City in the Department of Public Works. After 15 years there he retired gain. Throughout his family, James was known as a master on the grill. He often attended family functions where he steadfastly worked the grill and serving up a feast for all in attendance to enjoy. James often enjoyed his sports and was an avid fan of his favorite teams the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens. He often enjoyed visiting VFW (Veterans of Foreign Wars) Post 85, where he reminisced and shared military stories with his fellow veterans. James was very kind, patient, quiet and loving soul. He expressed his empathy for others by always showing interest in their wellness. He was steadfast and reliable. He was known for his willingness to lend a helping hand —- particularly with family. He would literally give them the shirt off his back and last dollar in his pocket. James did everything out of kindness and thoughtfulness. He enjoyed old school music and R&B. Sam Cooke was one of his favorites. He also had a special passion for jazz. James also kept himself fit with frequent walks. He maintained gym equipment in his home and also worked out at a local gym for veterans. James married Joan Queen and enjoyed the blessing of a blended family. Later in life James married Alma. They remained married until his passing. James was predeceased by his parents, John Queen, Gladys and Lawrence Middleton, his siblings Ricky Middleton, Gwendolyn Dupree, Larry Middleton, Eugene Middleton and Glenard Middleton, his children, Thomas Hill, Linda Queen and Dewayne Queen. He is survived by his wife Alma Queen; his children James Timothy Queen, Brenda Clark (Michael) and Kenneth Hill, Sr. (Debra) and James Timothy Queen; his siblings Shirley Q. Marshall and Jimm Middleton; along with a plethora of grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and a host of family members.
